Bayern Munich expanded its traveling roster for the Club World Cup to include school-aged youngsters David Santos, Lennart Karl, and Cassiano Kiala.For those boys, school has not been out for summer. FCBayern.com put together the details on how the young players are managing their schooling while playing world class competition: The ball is at rest on Tuesday at FC Bayern’s team headquarters in Orlando. While the Florida sun blazes outside and the next Club World Cup match ( Saturday: PSG! ) draws closer in the stadium, inside the club is calculating, translating, and revising. Three of the record champions’ youth players sit concentrated in the meeting room – in front of them, not a tactical plan, but school materials. Their task: not only to survive an international tournament and gain experience with the professionals, but also to learn math, English, and sports theory. Except for match days, the three have lessons every day – including in Florida. For the kids, it has been a good experience. “It’s sometimes an exceptional situation,” says Santos. “I’ve gotten used to the double burden, but it takes discipline.” FCBayern.com also provided a description of what the classroom environment looks like:The room where the young players meet daily with teacher Fabian Cichlar is normally reserved for team meetings. Now it serves as a classroom. Cichlar knows the players well – at the FC Bayern Campus, he also supports the boarding school residents with their schoolwork as part of a team, providing feedback and answering questions. The initiative often comes from the players themselves. “I simply say what I need,” explains Santos, “and then I get great help.” Karl is currently studying for his secondary school (high school) diploma, which he plans to graduate next year. “We do homework here every day,” Karl said. “You can’t lie to yourself, that doesn’t help you in school.”The education experience has clearly been on — and off — the pitch for Karl during the Club World Cup. “It’s really cool in the stadiums. You play against special opponents,” Karl said. “The atmosphere is really good, and we spend a lot of time with Tom Bischof and Aleks Pavlović.”Like Santos, Kiala attends Munich North High School. The normal week looks like this for the duo: From Monday to Thursday they have school there until 4:30 p.m. before leaving for training at Säbener Straße.“I sometimes have to run for the bus, which can be stressful,” said Kiala.FCBayern.com gave some insight as to what Kiala has been doing for awhile at the Club World Cup:He recently wrote a math test from Orlando, and today he has a Spanish proficiency test. Those two positions really could have gone either way.In the 3rd minute, a careless turnover from Michael Olise deep in his own end, allowed Désiré Doué to turn around Dayot Upamecano and rip a shot at Manuel Neuer that went just wide. Yikes. Both teams were pressing aggressively, but Bayern Munich did not seem to adjust well to it early on, and were on the verge of quite a few big blunders.In the 6th minute, Olise was gifted a golden opportunity to give Bayern Munich the lead after some nifty passing, but the Frenchman topped his shot and it rolled meekly toward Gianluigi Donnarumma for an easy save. Bayern Munich was putting a lot of pressure on PSG, but the end product was not living to its world class billing. Konrad Laimer drove quickly toward the net in the 8th minute and instead of chipping in a cross to Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala as they were streaking to the net, he took a shot...or maybe got caught in-between, so whatever it was just floated harmlessly over the net. Just a minute later, Bayern Munich had another strong chance, but inexplicably switched play instead of using the closer man for an easier play. It was clear that Bayern Munich was overthinking things — it was having a success that it might not have expected and did not really know how to handle that success. Through 15 minutes, Bayern Munich was the better team and it was not even close. However, the Bavarians were sloppy, indecisive, and inefficient with their chances. In the 19th minute, an old issue arose for Bayern Munich as a massive gap opened up on the left-side as Josip Stanišić had to track Bradley Barcola, who was quickly dribbling laterally to the middle of the pitch. Coman did not drop back quickly enough and Achraf Hakimi was off to the race. His cross led Khvicha Kvaratskhelia too much, though, as he could only fire a shot into the side netting. That sequence would start to evidence some cracks in Bayern Munich’s setup as PSG was beginning to find more space. Joshua Kimmich and Pavlović were back-pressing the hell out of PSG, which had to be a big part of the game plan for Kompany. Kvaratskhelia would look great in red, eh?Bayern Munich’s outside-backs, particularly Laimer, were getting dangerously high up the pitch. Olise tested Donnarumma in the 27th minute with a hard shot, but the Italian turned it away. Musiala had trouble getting into the match and seemed to be getting a lot of attention from PSG. In the 32nd minute, Kvaratskhelia ate up Dayot Upamecano and was a brilliant Neuer save away from giving PSG a lead. What a fantastic stop from the veteran.Stanišić was forced to leave the game in the 34th minute and was replaced by Sacha Boey. That pushed Laimer to the left side. Boey...really struggled.Coman (?!) actually pulled off a great 1v1 sequence and whipped a great cross in (!?) to Kane, who headed his attempt over the crossbar. In the 41st minute, Pavlović…
