Anas Ibn Maalik رضي الله عنه narrated: We went with Allaah's Messenger ﷺ to the blacksmith Aboo Saif, and he was the husband of the wet-nurse of Ibraaheem (the son of the Prophet). Allaah's Messenger ﷺ took Ibraaheem and kissed him and smelled him and later we entered Aboo Saif's house and at that time Ibraaheem was in his last breaths, and the eyes of Allaah's Messenger ﷺ started shedding tears. Abdur Rahmaan Ibn Auf said: “O Allaah's Messenger, even you are weeping?!” He ﷺ said: ❝O Ibn Auf, this is mercy.❞ Then he wept more and said: ❝The eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord. O Ibraaheem! Indeed we are grieved by your separation.❞

{Say: "Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Maula (Lord, Helper and Protector)." And in Allah let the believers put their trust.}

♦ Eating What is Lawful
Allah says in surah al-Baqarah:
أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ كُلُوا مِمَّا فِي الْأَرْضِ حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
O mankind, eat of what is lawful and good on the earth and do not follow the footsteps of the shaytaan. He is certainly a clear enemy to you. [2:168]
Commenting on part of this ayah, Imam al-Qurtubi wrote:
قال سهل بن عبد الله : النجاة في ثلاثة : أكل الحلال ، وأداء الفرائض ، والاقتداء بالنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم . وقال أبو عبد الله الساجي واسمه سعيد بن يزيد : خمس خصال بها تمام العلم ، وهي : معرفة الله عز وجل ، ومعرفة الحق وإخلاص العمل لله ، والعمل على السنة ، وأكل الحلال ، فإن فقدت واحدة لم يرفع العمل . ـ
Sahl ibn ‘Abdullah said: Salvation lies in three things:
1) Eating what is lawful
2) Fulfilling the obligations, and
3) Following the example of the Prophet.
Abu ‘Abdullah al-Saji – whose name is Sa’eed ibn Yazeed – said: There are five qualities which bring about well-rounded knowledge:
1) Knowing Allah,
2) Knowing the truth,
3) Making one’s deeds sincerely for Allah,
4) Doing one’s deeds according to the Sunnah, and
5) Eating what is lawful.
But if you are missing any one of these things your deeds will not be raised up [i.e. accepted].

The Tears of Anas ibn Mālik: When Even the Prayer Was Neglected!
Imām al-Zuhrī (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said:
“I entered upon Anas ibn Mālik (may Allāh be pleased with him) in Damascus while he was weeping.
So I said:
‘What makes you weep?!’
He replied:
‘I do not recognise anything from what I experienced [during the time of the Prophet ﷺ] except this prayer, and even this prayer has been neglected.’”
📚Narrated by al-Bukhārī (nos. 529 and 530), Aḥmad in al-Musnad (3/100–101, 270), al-Tirmidhī (no. 2447), Ibn al-Mubārak in al-Zuhd (no. 1512).
Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Rajab al-Ḥanbalī (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said in Fatḥ al-Bārī (3/56):
“Anas ibn Mālik was only weeping over the neglect of the prayer because its prescribed times were being neglected.”
This was because al-Ḥajjāj used to delay the prayers beyond their prescribed times, to the extent that he would perform the Ẓuhr and ʿAṣr prayers around sunset.

"It is not permissible for the people of knowledge to remain silent and leave the floor to the immoral, the innovator, and the ignorant, for this is a grave error and one of the causes of the spread of evil and innovations, the disappearance of good and its scarcity, and the concealment of the Sunnah .. Knowledge is not merely something to collect; it is something to act upon. Otherwise, the knowledge we acquire may become evidence against us rather than a benefit for us.

The Humility of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq: When the People Surpassed Him in the Reward of Returning the Salām!
Imām Ibn Abī Shaybah narrated in his Muṣannaf (no. 26191):
ʿAbdullāh ibn Idrīs narrated to us, from Ḥuṣayn, from Hilāl ibn Yasāf, from Zuhrah ibn Ḥumayḍah, who said:
“I rode behind Abū Bakr (may Allāh be pleased with him), and whenever we passed by a group of people, we would greet them with the Salām.
They would then return our greeting with something greater than what we had greeted them with.
So Abū Bakr said:
‘The people have continued to surpass us throughout this day.’”
Imām Ibn Abī Shaybah also narrated in his Muṣannaf (no. 26192):
Ghundar and Abū Usāmah narrated to us, from Shuʿbah, from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Maysarah, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from ʿUmar (may Allāh be pleased with him), who said:
“I was riding behind Abū Bakr.”
He then mentioned a similar narration and added that Abū Bakr said:
“Indeed, the people have surpassed us today in a great deal of goodness.”
