Concerns Over Foreign Interference in Canadian Politics

Hong Kong police have placed a $1 million bounty on Canadian Joe Tay, accusing him of violating the national security law. This is seen as an attempt by the CCP to undermine his candidacy in Markham-Unionville.

Tay is vying for the Conservative nomination against former MP Bob Saroya. This situation highlights the CCP's influence in Canadian politics and has raised concerns within the Chinese-Canadian community.

A Conservative spokesperson stated they do not recognize the Hong Kong accusations. Tay is focusing on his campaign.

Paul Chiang, a Liberal MP, is under investigation for comments suggesting that a bounty could be claimed from the Chinese consulate by handing over Conservative candidate Joe Tay. This has sparked outrage, with critics accusing him of intimidation and potential foreign interference. Chiang has apologized, calling his comments a lapse in judgment, but the investigation continues.

Reports have also surfaced alleging that China may have supported Chiang during the last election. These claims have raised serious concerns about foreign interference in Canada’s democratic processes.
