Italy is deploying 500 soldiers to Milan after protests over rising living costs erupted into violence, with shops looted, windows smashed and clashes with police.

Authorities detained 271 people, including dozens of minors, as luxury retailers such as Chanel, Dior and Tiffany took precautions against further unrest.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloniโ€™s government is preparing tougher security measures targeting violent demonstrations and youth gangs, while Milan braces for another round of protests this weekend.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly planned a major new wave of strikes against Iran earlier this month, but President Donald Trump opposed restarting the war ahead of the US midterm elections, according to the Financial Times.

Israeli forces were reportedly prepared to target Iranian nuclear facilities, regime sites and infrastructure around October 10, in an operation potentially more intense than previous strikes.

The report suggests renewed military action remains possible in the coming weeks, although no decision has been confirmed.

Malaysia has banned government employees from using Waze, the popular navigation app founded in Israel, citing concerns about data security and its Israeli origins.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim claimed the Google-owned app was subject to Israeli laws but provided no specific evidence of security risks. Officials have been instructed to switch to a locally developed alternative.

Waze was created in Israel and acquired by Google in 2013, raising questions about the basis for Malaysiaโ€™s decision more than a decade later.

Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar is asking supporters for campaign donations as she faces a federal investigation into allegations of immigration fraud.

In a new Instagram video, Omar requested contributions of $5, $10 or $20, accusing the Trump administration of attempting to intimidate her ahead of the midterm elections.

The appeal follows a reported search of her Washington, DC, home, during which federal agents seized electronic devices and documents. Omar has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and vowed to continue campaigning.

US Democratic congressional candidate Brad Lander was detained by Israeli security forces during an unauthorized olive harvest near the Israeli community of Beitar Illit in Judea and Samaria.

The IDF said the harvest had not been coordinated with authorities, as required for security and public order. Soldiers and police detained those present due to the security risks, while the landowner was given instructions to arrange a future harvest.

The IDF emphasized that approximately 100 coordinated olive harvests have already taken place across the West Bank, producing dozens of tons of olives under Israeli security protection without unusual incidents.

Lander was later released with a warning. Some of his detractors have accused him of exploiting his Jewish identity and criticism of Israel for political attention, even labeling him a โ€œself-hating Jew.โ€

Israelis head to the polls on October 27, but did you know the party with the most votes doesn't necessarily get to lead the country?

With 120 Knesset seats, a 3.25% electoral threshold and coalitions determining who becomes prime minister, Israeli elections work very differently from those in the US.

Here's how it all worksโ€”and why 61 seats are the magic number.

Five Israelis were wounded, two critically, in a Palestinian terror attack near Hebron in the southern West Bank.

According to the IDF, two Palestinian terrorists initially planned to carry out a mass-casualty shooting against Israeli civilians on Route 35. After encountering a military checkpoint, they opened fire on Israeli soldiers, triggering a gunfight that lasted more than 20 minutes.

Israeli forces eliminated both terrorists. The IDF believes the checkpoint prevented a potentially devastating attack on civilians.

The five wounded Israelis were evacuated to hospitals in Jerusalem, while the IDF and Shin Bet investigate possible links to a larger terrorist network.
