Exciting news for Ingress Agents!
Kawashima Masashi is being promoted to Product Manager after 10 years in Niantic, having previously worked Ingress as a designer in 2013, focusing on the early story and game design and moving on to be the Asia-Pacific director of a little known game called Pokemon GO, essentially being responsible for it's creation. Together with director Brian Rose and a new team, they're ready to take on new challenges, while aiming at making Ingress a Forever Game.
Kawashima credits the supportive agents and the special allure of Ingress for keeping him passionate about the game.
Judging by this article, it's also likely that one of the former employees who worked on the lore of the game will also re-join the project. This means that new game lore might be on the way!
Mark your calendars for September 16th, as both Brian Rose and Kawashima Masashi will fly in from the US to attend the Ctrl Kobe Anomaly.

Niantic has published details for the 2023 L8 Week event happening from August 4th, 1700 UTC, to August 14th, 1700 UTC!
During the event the following bonuses will be active:
🔸Double (2x) AP for all actions
🔸APEX boosting AP to triple (3x)
🔸2X deploy for L8 Resonators
🔸Reduced Drone cooldown to 8 minutes
🔸80AP per correct Glyph in Glyph Hacks
🔸Links shorter than 8km creatable under Fields
🔸Extended Overclock Glyph Hack to 80 seconds
❗️Experimental weapon tuning will be in effect during the Event. What exactly is meant by this is unknown at the moment.

Thia has just clarified that the AP bonus with Apex during the event is 6x. An action that normally gives you 100AP gives you 200AP without Apex and 600AP with Apex.

Wayfarer related news!
Niantic have released a new abuse reporting form for Wayfarer. You can now access a form outside of the scanner to report Wayfarer abuse anonymously.
Once you have completed the form, you will get an email from Niantic to reply to with any additional information such as images.
The form can be used for a variety of abuse related to Wayfarer & Portals such as;
- The wayspots/nominations that do not exist in the location or blatantly do not match Niantic's eligibility or acceptance criterias
- Attempts to intentionally add unrelated photos to the location
- Title/description/supporting statements edits that mention codenames, real names or other personal information of players
You will receive a response back from Niantic staff with details of any further information needed or action taken.

In this update the AP status bar position in the Map view was fixed and the CMU grant for C.O.R.E. subscribers has been increased to 10.000 CMU as part of Niantic's subscription price change.

⚠️ The Level 8 Week Event starts at 1700 UTC!
If you plan to reach an exact number of AP (such as exactly 40 million AP when you reach level 16), remember that you will not be able to earn any odd number of AP during the event.
Therefore, if you are playing for an even number of AP, you must make sure that your AP is already even at the start of the event. Of course, the same is true for a target with an odd number of AP.

Heads up! There's currently an issue in the scanner which allows Agents to purchase the Machina Patch medal multiple times from the in-app store. As you can only get a medal once, purchasing it multiple times will just burn your CMU.
After you purchase the medal, restart your scanner and check your profile to make sure you have already gotten the medal.

On August 28th, Niantic will increase the price of the C.O.R.E. Subscription to $7.99 (€9.99) for existing subscribers (new subscribers are already charged the new price). There's still some time left, but here is a reminder for Android users (Apple handles the price change differently).
👍 If you wish to keep your subscription even after the price increase, head over to the Play Store, access the Subscriptions section and agree to the price increase on your next renewal. If you do not explicitly agree to the price increase, the subscription will automatically be cancelled during the next renewal date.
👎 This is the default action if you do not take any action, but if you want, you can head over to the same section to manually cancel the next renewal.
As a reminder, the price increase also brings a CMU increase in the C.O.R.E loadout from 2500 to 10000 units which is already active.

Since then it has received numerous updates and a rebranding! The website is now called Ingress.Plus and gives you the opportunity to create an account and mark which badges you have obtained. You're also able to see how many agents have marked a badge as "obtained" (for example, MZFPK was obtained by 76 agents as of writing this post!).
The website will be developed further and will feature diffrent archives of Ingress icons, sprites, textures and others in the future, as well as a profile view that mimics in-game ordering so one can has a shareable copy of their in-game profile! Join their Telegram channel and group to stay up-to-date with all the updates!
