"The strange events of December 10th are just across the horizon, and as promised I’ve been keeping an ear to the ground.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
5 Missions will go live between noon and 4pm Local Japan Time — one each hour at the top of the hour.
Each Mission will contain a challenge, part of which will be uncovered at the Mission Site. The remaining components will have to retrieved from dozens of locations across Japan by identifying and accessing Portals based on the available intelligence.
Code-breakers and Puzzle-Solvers will likely play a major role in helping piece the challenges together and finding their solutions.
Some of the Missions will require unlock passwords gained by completing previous Missions in order to be completed, and each Mission will in turn reward Agents with a Mission Reward Code that will be needed for the Final Challenge.
The Final Challenge will require the password solutions from all previous challenges as well as the Reward Codes from all completed Missions.
Only one Agent (a representative of their Faction) will be able to complete the Final Challenge by entering the correct passcode… It will be a race to the finish line and time will be of the essence. Agents with a wide variety of skillsets will all have to work together to bring victory to their Faction.
Agents, keep us up to date on how the day proceeds tomorrow, whether you are in the field or helping contribute from anywhere in the world. Tell us who you are and what role you are playing. I’ll be sending out some passcodes from my reserves at random to those who help shed light on the events of the day. Use #Ingress161210 for your broadcasts…

Some changes affected the rules for the next Anomalies, here are the major changes in bold text:
- The events will be divided in three phases, as before: Portal Battle, Shard Shuttle, Link Frenzy. Every Phase will last 1 hour, followed by a 30 minutes intermission
- First Phase (Portal Battle): Scoring has changed. The highest Enlightened score achieved during any of the four Measurements will be paired against the highest Resistance score achieved during any of the four Measurements, and the 100 Anomaly Points will be distributed as a percentage based on that pairing.
- Second phase(Shard Shuttle): Some names and values were modified. Target Portals are now Research Nodes and are highlighted in yellow for the ENL and red for the RES. There will be between 4 and 32 Research Nodes per faction and between 11 and 91 Shards. 1 Point is scored if the Shard lands on a Research Node. It then can be moved to another unvisited Research Node to score more points. The 100 points will be divided as a percentage based on the total scores accrued by the factions.
- Third Phase(Link Frenzy): This phase will measure Links connected to Active Anomaly Zone Portals instead of Control Fields. Four Measurements will occur instead of two. The scoring system will be the same as in Phase One
- Primaries and Satellites are back: Each Primary Anomaly will contribute a value of 2 towards the series. Each Satellite Anomaly will contribute a value of 1 towards the series. By controlling five or more of the eight Primary or Satellite Anomalies on an Anomaly Day, a Faction will earn 1 Bonus Point.
- Houston has become an Ancillary Anomaly: it will host only one phase, the Portal Battle, worth 100 points and a not measured Operation Clear Field. The Ancillary Anomaly will contribute a value of 0.5 towards the series.

Niantic has published the #rules for the #SharedMemories Anomaly Series which will span across Q3 2024!
The notable changes for this wave of Anomaly Events compared with the Buried Memories series are the following:
🔸Global Shared Link Challenge: The first of this season's global Challenge will start in 3 days and will be focused on Linking! Points will be awarded for creating and destroying links and bonus points will be awarded for creating Linkstars with your team! Season points for this challenge will be awarded based on the number of Global Challenge medals earned by the two Factions as well as the total number of points warned by Agents.
🔸August Daily Bounty Challenge: The second Global Challenge will focus on bounties! Season points for this global challenge will be distributed to the Factions based on the number of Research Days and Research Bounties completed by Agents!
🔸Shard Skirmishes and Anomaly Scoring: No significant change was recorded to the rules for these events
