So consumed with this world that you miss all the signs.

“But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.” Luke 21:34

Christ died, that is history, Christ died for our sins, that is doctrine.
Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. Look to Him and be saved.
The world is so in love with lies that the truth feels like hate.

Dear Daughter,
The mustard seed is the smallest seed, yet it becomes the tree birds nest in. Fulfillment rarely starts large.

Don't despise the small, faithful acts in your marriage — the daily prayer, the quiet apology. They become shelter for others eventually.

Small seeds, wide branches.
'It grows and becomes larger than all the garden plants' (Mark 4:32).

What small, faithful habit in your marriage might one day shelter others?

Heavenly Father, crush my pride and make me humble. Purify my heart and make me holy. Expose every sin I excuse, every idol I protect, and every place I resist You. Make me more like Christ today than I was yesterday. I want less of self, more of You, and a life that brings You glory. In Jesus' name. Amen.

No matter where we are or what our day looks like, we can keep our hearts focused on the hope we have in Jesus - and that’s always worth singing about. 🙌

Parents, model this and teach this to your children.

To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.” Proverbs 16:16

The church is not a building where we go to be entertained on Sunday mornings. It is the body of Christ gathered to worship and grow together.

Do not neglect the gathering of the saints (Heb. 10:25).

5 dangerous addictions that we rarely talk about in the Church, but need to address:

1. addicted to gossip
2. addicted to drama
3. addicted to being the victim
4. addicted to being offended
5. addicted to negativity

These addictions will rob your joy and kill relationships.

The invitation of riches.

“Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.” 1 Timothy 6:9

We've got to stop looking for peace in our circumstances and start looking for it in Christ.

September 18: Another Take

#Devotional

Nahum 1:1–3:19; Acts 16:6–40; Job 24:12–25

What do we risk when we know of God’s forgiveness and then become complacent and return to our sinful ways? What happens when we turn our back on God—treating Him like an insurance agent rather than a savior?

The short, shocking book of Nahum shows what happens to those who disregard God. Where the book of Jonah displays God’s mercy and Nineveh’s repentance, Nahum proclaims God’s judgment on the same Assyrian city. The city’s deeds catch up with it, and the judgment is harsh—unrelenting.

“There is no healing for your wound; your injury is fatal. All who hear the report of you will clap their hands for joy concerning you. For who has not suffered at the hands of your endless cruelty?” (Nah 3:19). The empire responsible for conquering cities, displacing and enslaving people, and looting wealth would eventually meet its end—defeated by Babylon.

Jonah shows us that God will eagerly dispense mercy, but the book of Nahum—wholly dedicated to God’s judgment of Nineveh—reminds us that His mercy cannot be taken for granted. It’s a sobering but necessary reminder to respond to God’s mercy with faith and trust. It’s also a reminder to recognize God’s full character: He delights in steadfast faithfulness, but He is also a burning fire. Don’t tread on His mercy. Respond to it.

How does the idea of a God who sets all things right bring you both awe and comfort?
September 18 - The Importance of the Miracle at Cana

#LifeOfChrist

“This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him” (John 2:11).

When Jesus turned water into wine, His purpose was not to amaze His audience with His power. His miracles met specific needs, such as opening blind eyes or deaf ears, delivering those oppressed by demons, feeding hungry people, or calming a threatening storm. This miracle met the genuine need of the family and their guests.

But even more important, this first of Jesus’ signs manifested His glory (cf. 1:14)—He put His deity on display. Jesus’ signs were not simply powerful displays of compassion, but were designed to reveal who He really was, since they unmistakably manifest God at work. Signs, miracles, and wonders nevertheless do not necessarily convince people to believe in the Lord and the gospel.

Amazingly, Jesus seems to have left Cana with only the disciples who had come there with Him, despite having performed a miracle, the likes of which had not happened since God created flour and oil in the days of Elijah and Elisha (1 Kings 17:8–16; 2 Kings 4:1–7). The obvious deduction that He was the Messiah escaped the people; they saw the sign, but missed what it pointed to.

His disciples, however, believed in Him. Having heard John the Baptist’s testimony that Jesus was the Messiah (1:34), having heard Jesus’ own words (1:39) and believed in Him (1:41), they now saw firsthand miraculous confirmation of that faith.

Ask Yourself

There is not a need He hasn’t met in your life, even though it may appear so at times. If a “need” goes unmet, it’s only because there is reason to wait or because we have incorrectly categorized our desire as a demand. As you bring your needs before Him today, you can be sure He hears you and responds.
