Salvation is not a reward for good people. There are no good people because everyone has sinned (Rom. 3:10-12). We are saved by grace alone through faith in Christ.

If you need a word from God, then go to the Word of God. When the Bible speaks, God speaks.

There are no "ex-Christians".

Many falsely think that believing that God exists, or attending a church building makes you a Christian.

Therefore, people think you "leave Christianity", because you stop doing those things.

However, being a real Christian means you've been saved by Jesus, & have been in-dwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit.

If that never happened to you, then you never were a Christian to begin with.

September 19: Honestly Questioning God

#Devotional

Habakkuk 1:1–2:5; Acts 17:1–34; Job 25:1–6

Many people are afraid to be honest with God—which is odd, considering that He already knows what we’re thinking. The biblical authors certainly told God how they felt, and they did so eloquently and often.

The prophet Habakkuk remarked, “O Yahweh, how long shall I cry for help and you will not listen? How long will I cry out to you, ‘Violence!’ and you will not save?” (Hab 1:1–2). Habakkuk felt that God was not answering his prayers—that God was ignoring his petitions. He reminded God of the desperate need for His intercession. In doing so, Habakkuk reminds us that wrestling with God is a healthy and necessary component of following Him.

Habakkuk went on to make more desperate, even angry, pleas: “Why do you cause me to see evil while you look at trouble? Destruction and violence happen before me; contention and strife arise. Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice does not go forth perpetually. For the wicked surround the righteous; therefore justice goes forth perverted” (Hab 1:3–4). Habakkuk’s honest questions reveal the state of his heart. He was not afraid to tell God what he felt because he understood that God already knew. He also believed that God could be persuaded to intercede.

Yet it’s not language or skillful rhetoric that causes God to intercede—after all, He is a free being who can do what He wills, and He will not be manipulated. God wants to use us for His work, and He longs for us to acknowledge what He is doing. When we pray, God listens; when God acts in response to our prayers, we know that it is His work. We must pray honestly, and we must acknowledge God’s rightful place and acts.

What are you praying about? What are you honestly confessing to God?

September 19 - The Significance of Temple Cleansing

#LifeOfChrist

“The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And He found in the temple those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables. And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; and to those who were selling the doves He said, ‘Take these things away; stop making My Father’s house a place of business.’ His disciples remembered that it was written, ‘Zeal for Your house will consume me’” (John 2:13–17).

The Feast of Passover in Jerusalem each year meant big business for Jerusalem-based merchants. They sold animals necessary for the sacrifices at inflated prices to Jewish pilgrims who found it impractical to bring their own from their homes in distant lands.

Also, every Jewish male twenty years of age or older had to pay the annual temple tax (Matt. 17:24–27). But it could be paid only by using Jewish or Tyrian coins, so foreigners had to exchange their money for acceptable coinage. Because they held a monopoly, money changers charged an exorbitant fee.

What should have been a place of sacred reverence and adoration had become a place of abusive commerce and excessive overpricing.

Realizing that the purity of temple worship was a matter of honor to God, Jesus took swift and decisive action. The intensity of His righteous indignation was unmistakable—Christ would not tolerate any mockery of the spirit of true worship.

Ask Yourself

Are there instances in which we have turned the worship of God into something less than it should be—perhaps into something it should never be? What kind of heart do you intend to bring with you the next time you join with others in the Lord’s house for worship?

The Son of God willingly passed over His life, that death might freely pass over the sons and daughters of Adam.

You were not created to "believe in yourself", you were created to believe in Someone bigger than yourself.

You can read the Bible, quote the Bible, or even memorize the Bible.

But, unless the Author of the Bible lives inside of you, you'll never truly understand the Bible or live the Bible.
September 19 (Saturday)

Dear Daughter,
A vineyard shared by two households doubles the harvest and halves the labor.
Celebrate the fruit your marriage produces for others — hospitality, mentorship, generosity. Fruit was never meant to stay on the vine.

Give some of your harvest away today.
'Give, and it will be given to you' (Luke 6:38).

Who could receive fruit from your marriage's harvest this week?

Sep 19 (Sat) — RIDDLE-ORACLE
"The Refiner's Fire and the Face in the Silver"

A silversmith does not leave the furnace unwatched. He sits before it, eyes fixed on the molten metal, because there is only one sign that tells him the work is finished: the moment he can see his own FACE reflected clearly in the surface (Mal 3:3). The fire is not punishment — it is patient, watchful purification, and it ends the instant the reflection appears. This is the hidden shape of every hard season your marriage has walked through. 🔥🪞

Consider the riddle folded into the metal: silver does not become pure by escaping the fire, but by staying in it long enough for the dross to rise and be skimmed away. Every conflict you've survived, every long night of hard conversation, every season where love felt more like labor than delight — this was never proof that your marriage was failing. It may have been proof that the Refiner was still seated at the furnace, still watching, still patient enough to wait for the reflection. ⚱️

And here is the second riddle, quieter than the first: the silversmith never leaves. Isa 43:2 promises when you pass through the fire you will not be burned — not because the fire is gentle, but because Someone remains seated beside it the entire time, regulating the heat by His own wisdom, not removing it a moment too soon or leaving it a moment too long. Your marriage's hardest fire was never unsupervised. 🕯️

❓ What dross is rising in your marriage right now that the Refiner is patiently skimming away?
❓ Can you see His face reflected yet in the surface of your covenant — or is He still, mercifully, not finished?

Let us search the Word together and sit a while longer before the fire.

GOD WILL RENEW YOUR STRENGTH 🦅

There will be days when you feel tired and have nothing left to give. Don’t lose hope. God can restore the strength you thought you had lost.

Christ is urging us to fix our hearts on heaven. Heaven is His realm. He has gone there to prepare a place for us. That truth is what makes heaven so precious for the Christian.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
