THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD: IMMUTABILITY
God does not become wiser. He does not learn. He does not become stronger. He does not become more loving. He does not improve.
Why?
Because God is already infinitely and perfectly all that He is.
"For I the LORD do not change." (Malachi 3:6)
The God who cannot improve also cannot deteriorate.

βIf the sinless Christ, who is literally God in human flesh and Lord of all, would so humble Himself for us, we dare not denigrate humility or aspire to self-esteem instead of lowliness...β βJohn MacArthur

One day your career will end. Your possessions will belong to someone else. Your body will return to dust.
But your soul will still exist.
Prepare for eternity. Trust in Jesus Christ today.
But your soul will still exist.

September 26: Unexpected Opportunities
#Devotional
Zechariah 8:1β9:17; Acts 23:23β24:27; Job 30:1β15
When we are busy doing the work of the kingdom, how do we respond to obstacles that get in our way? Do we expect God to blast a path straight through so that we can proceed? We might read the drama of Paulβs life through this lens, waiting anxiously for God to open the way for Paul to continue his spectacularly successful work. Instead, God allows Paul to be imprisoned and put on trial.
But as Paul defended himself before Roman officials, he recognized that God was using him in ways he hadnβt expected. The conflict and rejection Paul encountered from the Jews provided him with the opportunity to share the gospel with some of the most influential Gentiles he would ever encounter.
God used Paulβs trials to expand his ministry from the Jews to the Gentiles. Through Paulβs life, God displayed His power to bring about the growth of the Church and the spread of the gospel message far beyond Israel.
God is working in and among us to bring the good news to those whom we donβt have in our field of vision. We should reconsider our attitude toward the conflicts and disappointments in our lives, instead seeking Godβs providential hand in them.
How can you pray for wisdom to see God at work in all the circumstances of your life?

September 26 - An Old Testament Illustration of Salvation
#LifeOfChrist
ββAs Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal lifeββ (John 3:14β15).
To emphasize for Nicodemus that there was no excuse for him to be ignorant of the way of salvation, Jesus appealed to a familiar incident in the Old Testament (Num. 21:5β9).
The event took place during Israelβs forty years of wilderness wandering after leaving Egypt and before entering the Promised Land. As a judgment on the peopleβs incessant complaining, the Lord sent venomous snakes to infest their camp. In desperation, the Israelites begged Moses to intercede on their behalf. And God answered Mosesβ prayerful petition by showing mercy to His rebellious people. He instructed Moses to make a bronze replica of a snake and raise it above the camp on a pole. Those who were bitten would be healed if they but looked at it, thereby acknowledging their guilt and expressing faith in Godβs forgiveness and healing power.
The point of Jesusβ analogy is that just βas Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted upβ (crucified; cf. 8:28; 12:32, 34). The term βmustβ emphasizes that Christβs death was a necessary part of Godβs plan of salvation. He had to die as a substitute for sinners. The stricken Israelites were cured by obediently looking to the elevated serpent, apart from any works or righteousness of their own, in complete hope and dependence on Godβs Word. In the same way, whoever looks in faith alone to the crucified Christ will be cured from sinβs deadly bite and βwill in Him have eternal life.β
Ask Yourself
The use of analogies and common knowledge is most effective in sharing gospel truth with others. What are some of the most compelling ones God has registered in your heart? Be deliberate about getting these down, grounding them biblically, then having them mentally available to share.

Sep 26 (Sat) β RIDDLE-ORACLE
"The Tent Pegs and the Enlarged Place"
Isaiah does not tell the barren woman to shrink her expectations β he tells her to ENLARGE the place of her tent, to lengthen her cords, to strengthen her stakes (Isa 54:2-3), and only THEN does he promise she will spread abroad. This is a strange order for building β most would say secure the stakes first, expand later. But faith builds backward: it drives the pegs deep BEFORE the growth arrives, trusting the promise before the proof. βΊπ¨
Here is the riddle hidden in the tent cloth: a tent with long cords but weak stakes will collapse in the first strong wind β beautiful in stillness, useless in the storm. And a tent with strong stakes but short cords will never shelter anyone beyond its own narrow center β safe, but small, never reaching the ones outside who need covering. Your marriage needs BOTH: deep stakes of daily faithfulness, and long cords of hope stretched toward what God has not yet shown you. π¬οΈ
And notice who drives the pegs β not the woman alone, striking with her own strength, but the Lord Himself named as her Maker and her Husband in the very next verses (Isa 54:5). The strength for your enlargement was never meant to come only from your own hands. The Craftsman who pitched the first tent in Eden is still the One holding the mallet over yours. π₯
β Where is God asking you to lengthen your cords β hope for something not yet visible β before you feel ready?
β Are your stakes driven deep enough in the ordinary, daily faithfulness to hold whatever enlargement is coming?
Let us search the Word together and drive the pegs deeper before the wind comes.
