WEEK 1 β Dormancy & Trust (Oct 1β4)
3. October 3 (Saturday)
Dear Daughter,
Two trees standing bare in the same frost look identical to a passerby β but only one has roots deep enough to survive it.
Celebrate the quiet resilience in your marriage that no one applauds because it isn't loud.
Unseen endurance deserves its own joy.
'Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord⦠he is like a tree planted by the waters' (Jer 17:7-8).
What quiet resilience in your marriage deserves celebrating today, even if no one else sees it?

Oct 3 (Sat) β RIDDLE-ORACLE
"The Almond Branch and the Watching God"
Jeremiah is shown a simple branch and asked what he sees. "A branch of an almond tree," he answers β and God replies, "You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it" (Jer 1:11-12). The riddle hides in the Hebrew wordplay itself: the almond tree is named "the watcher" because it is the first to bloom each year, waking before every other tree, as if it cannot wait for spring. πΈποΈ
Here is what the branch teaches your covenant: God is not slow to bloom His promises over your marriage β He is often the FIRST to move, watching and waiting for the season to turn, long before you can see any sign of blossom in your own circumstances. The almond does not bloom because the weather finally warmed; it blooms because something in its nature is fixed on what is coming, unmoved by what still looks like winter around it. βοΈπΏ
And notice β Jeremiah was not asked to explain the vision, only to SEE it rightly, to trust what was shown even before the fulfillment arrived. Your marriage may be standing in what still looks like a bare, wintered field. But the Watcher has already set His eye on the branch. The blossom is not a maybe β it is a matter of timing. π₯
β What promise over your marriage has felt dormant, as though winter forgot to end?
β Can you trust that the Watcher's eye has never left the branch, even while you saw no bloom?
Let us search the Word together and watch for what is already budding.

π― Correct Answer: A
β’ The Scripture: Ephesians 5:18 (ESV) states, "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit."

October 4: Defibrillators for Sardis
#Devotional
Ezekiel 9:1β11:25; Revelation 3:1β13; Job 33:8β18
We cover up the dead places in ourselves with all sorts of regalia. We fill the emptiness with fine clothing, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, or relationships in which the other is set up as god. Underneath the trappings, though, weβre decaying.
Of all the churches addressed in Revelation, the church in Sardis receives the most intense critique. Sardis was a wealthy city and a military stronghold. And the church, like the city, seemed to be alive and well. But Christ, speaking truth through Johnβs revelation, uncovers and names the decaying parts: βI know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, and you are dead. Be on the alert and strengthen the remaining things that are about to die, for I have not found your works completed before my Godβ (Rev 3:1β2).
The community in Sardis needed more than a stern scolding. They needed immediate resuscitation. They had so compromised their faith that many among them were spiritually dead. Those parts not already dead were dying. And the façade only perpetuated continued decay.
What was the answer? Was there hope for Sardis? Is there hope for us?
Sardis could be brought back from the edge of death, but only through repentance: βTherefore remember how you have received and heard, and observe it, and repentβ (Rev 3:3). Urgency is paramount: βBe on the alert,β Christ tells them. βI will come like a thief.β
We have received the same instructions. Like Sardis, we mightβif we try hard enoughβmeet othersβ expectations. But we shouldnβt lie to ourselves. God sees our outward works, but He also knows our hidden hearts. Name your need, repent, and find hope in Christ, the only one who can fill the emptiness.
In what areas of your life do you feel empty? How can you name your sin?

October 4 - What Is Living Water?
#LifeOfChrist
βJesus answered and said to her, βIf you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, βGive Me a drink,β you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.β She said to Him, βSir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water?β . . . Jesus answered and said to her, βEveryone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal lifeββ (John 4:10β11, 13β14).
Jesusβ encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well is another opportunity for Him to teach profound spiritual truth through a metaphor. When their conversation began, He was the thirsty one, and she the one with the water. Now He spoke as if she were the thirsty one and He the one with the water. Her confusion is not unexpected. She did not understand Jesus was talking about spiritual realities. The βliving waterβ He offered was salvation in all its fullness.
But she was skeptical of His ability to provide the living water He offered. So Jesus patiently answered her skeptical question: βEveryone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.β Here was Jesus offering her the living water of spiritual life to quench her parched, needy soul.
Ask Yourself
What activities of Jesus in your life share some common qualities with waterβits clarity, its refreshment, its cleansing, its sustenance, its replenishment? Praise Him for each of these things as He brings them to mind.
