Sin looks so good beforehand; only once youโve swallowed the bait do you feel the hook.
๐Week 3: Caring for the Body and Resources
๐พ Q7 Commentary: The Solemn Rest of the Land
๐ฏ Correct Answer: A
โข ๐ The Scriptural Blueprint: Leviticus 25:4 (ESV) establishes, โ...but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to the LORD.โ
โข ๐ก The Theological Insight: The agricultural Sabbath forced Israel to halt all cultivation, unplowed and unharvested, for an entire year. This radical command was not primarily a lesson in ecological preservation or economic pragmatism; it was an intense theological declaration: a Sabbath to the LORD. It demanded absolute corporate reliance on the unseen hand of God for survival, proving that the land belonged to Him alone and that obedience matters far more than frantic human production.
โข โ ๏ธ Strategy Breakdown: Option B borrowed the literal social utility mentioned elsewhere in Scripture (feeding the poor), acting as a highly convincing decoy to trap humanitarian guessers who miss the central theological focus of Leviticus.
โก Prophetic Proclamation:
Silence in the face of revelation is a slow betrayal of the mind. Why look on as an uncommitted spectator while the wisdom of God is displayed? 45 minutes of grace remain. Break the stone of passivity and record your answer!

๐Week 3: Caring for the Body and Resources
๐ฅ Q8 Commentary: The Sovereign Reward of Disciplined Separation
๐ฏ Correct Answer: B
โข ๐ The Scriptural Blueprint: Daniel 1:15 (ESV) records, โAnd at the end of ten days it was seen that they were better in appearance and fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate the king's food.โ
โข ๐ก The Theological Insight: Danielโs refusal to defile himself with the Babylonian menu was an act of high covenant fidelity and physical stewardship. It looked like social and political suicide, but the outcome exposes the total sovereignty of God over physical biology. God vindicated their disciplined separation by overriding natural expectations. True strength, health, and vitality flow from the favor of the Almighty, not from compromising with the enticing provisions of earthly kingdoms.
โข โ ๏ธ Strategy Breakdown: Options A and D are beautifully crafted "poetic echoes" that sound exactly like standard Sunday-school summaries, operating as traps for anyone who values emotional platitudes over the precise text.

October 19: Big Picture Hope
#Devotional
Ezekiel 38:1โ39:24; Revelation 19:1โ10; Job 38:12โ24
Some Bible passages are so perplexing that weโre not really sure what to make of them. Such is the case with Ezek 38:1โ39:24. As we closely examine this text, we can easily lose sight of its message. We can find ourselves so lost in the details that the big picture becomes fuzzy. So what is the big picture presented in this passage? God is on the side of His people; He will fight for them.
This message is comforting. We all experience times when we feel like an ancient Israelite, lost and wandering in the desert. We go through times when weโre not sure whatโs next or how it will all end up. But when we realize that God is there to war on our behalfโeven in the midst of supreme chaos and paradise interrupted (compare Ezek 37)โour viewpoint quickly shifts.
When we feel as though weโre blindly grasping for answers in the smoke that is the future, startling realizations like the type Ezekiel envisions can provide us with the hope we need (compare Heb 11:1). The book of Revelation casts similar visions. After the lament over Babylon and all the โwoes,โ John the Apostle experiences rejoicing in heavenโsalvation has arrived: โAfter these things I heard something like the loud sound of a great crowd in heaven saying, โHallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, because his judgments are true and righteous, because he has passed judgment on the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality, and has avenged the blood of his slaves shed by her hand!โ โ (Rev 19:1โ2).
The big picture of the confusing passages of the Bible is indeed big. God is bringing judgment against the evil in the world and ushering in His great and glorious salvation. He will war on our behalf against all we fear. He has, and will, fight for us. He is a glorious and powerful God, worthy of praise.
What is the big picture of the current situation youโre dealing with? How does it give you hope?

October 19 - Jesusโ Deity in His Judgment
#LifeOfChrist
โโFor not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Sonโโ (John 5:22).
Jesusโ authority to grant spiritual life to whomever He chooses is consistent with His authority to judge all men on the last day (cf. 3:18โ19; 12:48). Since God is the โJudge of all the earthโ (Gen. 18:25), the fact that the Father judges no one, but โhas given all judgment to the Son,โ further attests to Christโs deity. Because their wills are in perfect harmony, all judgment can be given to Christ in the assurance that His judgment will be, in fact, the very same as the Fatherโs judgment. Although judgment was not the primary purpose of Christโs first coming to earth (3:17; 12:47), it remains the inescapable final result of rejecting the salvation He offers (3:18).
In the future, โthe Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesusโ (2 Thess. 1:7โ8), because God โhas fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the deadโ (Acts 17:31). On that final, terrible day of judgment, those who rejected Jesus will hear Him say, โI never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessnessโ (Matt. 7:23).
Take the time right now to examine your relationship to Christ. Make sure you are depending on His grace and mercy for salvation, not on your own sincere efforts.
Ask Yourself
Knowing ourselves and our tendency to sin, our view of Godโs power is perhaps most clearly seen, not in His ability and authority to judge but in His willingness to continually restrain it. That He doesnโt begrudge His sacrifice but keeps applying it to our need is evidence of the highest form of mercy. Thank Him heartily for this today.

WEEK 4 โ Hope of Renewal (Oct 19โ25)
October 19 (Monday)
Dear Daughter,
The first green shoot after a hard frost doesn't ask permission from the cold โ it simply pushes through when it's ready.
This week, look for the first small signs of renewal in your marriage, even if winter hasn't officially ended.
Hope often arrives before the season fully turns.
'Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth' (Isa 43:19).
What small green shoot of renewal have you noticed in your marriage lately?
