PARIS IS BEAUTIFUL. TAITA TAVETA STILL NEEDS WATER.

Hon. Patricia Mwashighadi says MCAs are entitled to foreign trips and that such travel serves educational, benchmarking, and marketing purposes.

Fair enough.

But wananchi are also entitled to ask difficult questions.

Because leadership is not judged by how passionately leaders defend travel allowances.

Leadership is judged by priorities.
At a time when:
🔸hospitals are struggling,
🔸pending bills remain unpaid,
🔸youth unemployment is rising,
🔸water shortages persist,
and
🔸development projects are stalled,

many residents simply do not see Paris as an urgent priority.

The public outrage is not about one individual. It is about a political culture where foreign travel increasingly appears more urgent than local service delivery.

No one is denying the value of cultural exchange or benchmarking.

But wananchi are asking:
⁉️What measurable returns will this trip bring?
⁉️Why must large political delegations accompany it?
⁉️Why now, near the close of the financial year?

And why does every criticism get dismissed as “kiki” instead of being answered transparently?

Public leadership comes with scrutiny.

Questioning expenditure is not hatred. It is accountability.

And while leaders debate Paris, ordinary residents are still debating:
🔸where the next water supply will come from,
🔸whether hospitals have medicine,
🔸and whether the county government still understands their daily struggles.

Paris is beautiful.
But Taita Taveta still needs water.

PARIS IS BEAUTIFUL. TAITA TAVETA STILL NEEDS WATER.

While hospitals struggle, development stalls, and families search for basic services, a section of Taita Taveta leaders appears more focused on foreign travel than local priorities.

A delegation of county assembly members is reportedly preparing to accompany the Mwazindika cultural team to Paris — a trip critics argue risks becoming another costly exercise funded by taxpayers with little measurable benefit to wananchi.

The concern is not the promotion of culture. Mwazindika represents heritage, identity, and talent. The concern is the growing perception that public office is being turned into a platform for luxury travel, allowances, and political tourism while urgent county needs remain unresolved.

Residents continue to raise serious concerns over:
🔸Water shortages,
🔸Underfunded hospitals,
🔸Pending bills,
🔸Stalled development projects,
🔸Youth unemployment,
🔸And struggling local businesses.

Against this backdrop, many wananchi are now asking: What exactly are the official duties requiring such a large political delegation in Paris?

Culture should unite and uplift communities — not become a convenient justification for excessive public expenditure.

Paris is beautiful.
But Taita Taveta still needs water.

THE ART OF POLITICAL PARASITISM

There comes a point when political theatre ceases to be amusing and begins to insult the intelligence of the public. The ongoing attempt by Wundanyi Hon MP Danson Mwashako to baptize the Mto Mwagodi–Msau–Mbale–Wundanyi–Mghange–Bura road project as his personal brainchild is not merely misleading; it is a spectacular exhibition of historical amnesia wrapped in…
