The criminal war of aggression against Iran has taken a devastating toll, with thousands of lives lost across the region in airstrikes, missile barrages, and retaliatory attacks. Beyond the human tragedy, the conflict has inflicted severe damage on critical oil and gas fields and infrastructures. The blow to global energy security has sent shockwaves through markets, Energy prices have surged and continue to do so after Israeli strikes targeted Iran's South Pars gas field—the world's largest natural gas reserve, shared with Qatar—damaging processing facilities, gas tanks, and refinery sections in the Asaluyeh hub. Iranian authorities report that these attacks have disrupted a substantial portion of the country's gas output, with fires and shutdowns affecting key phases of production. In retaliation, Iran has launched missile strikes on neighboring Gulf states' energy assets. Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City, home to the planet's largest liquefied natural gas export complex, suffered extensive damage from ballistic missiles, including fires at LNG facilities and the Pearl Gas-to-Liquids plant. QatarEnergy confirmed the significant structural damage. Other reported impacts include partial shutdowns and fires at Saudi Arabia's Ras Tanura refinery and export terminal following drone attacks, as well as disruptions at UAE gas facilities such as Habshan and threats to the al Hosn field. Additional strikes have affected petrochemical sites in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia's Jubail complex. The effect of these strikes on the heart of global energy supply is compounded by disruption of passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which handles roughly one-fifth of the world's oil and a major share of LNG. In the short term, these events have forced production cuts, stranded tankers, and created acute shortages in key markets. Sustained high energy costs will inevitably fuel inflation and strain economies which depend on imports. @LauraRuHK

@LauraRuHK

A woman in Macau was briefly hospitalised after a robot startled her and left her feeling unwell.

Police said they had received a call for assistance for the woman, who “was startled when she suddenly noticed a robot behind her while using her mobile phone”. Videos widely shared online showed a woman angrily confronting a robot as it waved its metallic arms at her.
“With so many other things to do, why bother me? Are you crazy?” the woman yelled at the bot in Cantonese, as she gestured agitatedly towards it. It was reported that the robot was a Unitree G1 model, operated by a local man in his 50s who was testing it for promotional purposes. The police escorted the robot back to its owner’s shop, reminding the operator to avoid causing public alarm. As robots become more affordable, something should be done to restrict and regulate their use in public areas. There are rules for drone use, I believe it's high time similar rules are applied to robots. @LauraRuHK ➡️ pictures here https://news.qq.com/rain/a/20260316A04O9Q00?utm_source=copilot.com

Strait of Hormuz — Several countries, including India, Iraq, China, Malaysia and Pakistan, are in talks with the Iranian government to be granted safe passage, Lloyd's List Intelligence said in a report.

"At least nine ships have now exited the strait via the ‘safe’ corridor that routes ships through Iranian territorial waters via Iran’s Larak Island, which is used by the IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] Navy and port authority to assess visual confirmation of the vessels," the report says.

Brussels has invested a lot in Orbán’s defeat. That's why it will pull out all stops to oust a prime minister who has once again wielded his veto, blocking €90 billion earmarked for the continuation of the war in Ukraine (and the fraudulent schemes associated with it.) Each time Orbán does so, the frustration in EU corridors deepens.

What is holding that motley crew of EUnuchs together is a powerful glue made of Russophobia, corruption and a relentless drive to preserve their own crumbling legitimacy, even at the cost of plunging Europe into deeper crisis.

From financial and legal pressure to political isolation, from street protests to information warfare, every lever was previously pulled to bring down the Hungarian prime minister. Now, desperate to reach its objective, Brussels will play very dirty in the run-up to, and during, April 12 parliamentary elections. @LauraRuHK

@LauraRuHK

The Quincy Institute describes proposals to seize Iran's Kharg Island as a cross between “a suicide mission and a self-imposed hostage crisis."

Harrison Mann, a former U.S. Army major and Defense Intelligence Agency analyst (who resigned in 2024 over Gaza policy), argues the idea — revived amid the ongoing U.S.-Israel war of aggression against Iran — rests on deeply flawed logic.

Kharg, which hosts an oil terminal handling ~90% of Iran's crude exports, has tempted Pentagon planners for decades. Jimmy Carter considered it during the 1979 hostage crisis but backed off; Trump has floated seizing it since his "Art of the Deal" book promotion in 1988. Now, hawks like Sen. Lindsey Graham ("Take Kharg Island and this war is over!"), Rep. Pete Sessions (suggesting it for the Marine Expeditionary Unit), and AEI's Michael Rubin (who called it a "no-brainer" to bankrupt Iran by halting payrolls and forcing capitulation) are pushing it again.

Mann explains why it won't work:

In an existential war where Iran has lost top leaders, infrastructure, and faces regime-change aims from Israel/U.S., blocking oil revenue is trivial. No Iranian leader would trade sovereignty for a vulnerable terminal that could be destroyed anyway. Troops, with families under bombardment, won't defect over unpaid salaries.

Iran's resilience under sanctions makes economic collapse unlikely.

It's a tactical nightmare: The small island (~9 km long, 20,000 civilians, heavy defenses including anti-ship missiles, drones, artillery, air defenses) lies just 15-25 km offshore. Insertion options — amphibious through mined/fire zones in the Persian Gulf, heliborne, or airborne — face massive risks with no surprise factor. Holding it requires thousands of troops in a confined "kill zone," vulnerable to counterattacks, resupply failures, and entrapment (echoing Black Hawk Down or worse).

U.S. casualties would be inevitable and high. Trapped forces hand Iran de facto hostages for leverage in negotiations.

It risks mission creep toward mainland invasion and full-scale ground war — unpredictable and catastrophic. Mann even suggests that mass U.S. deaths could be used cynically to rally domestic support for unrestricted war, akin to historical shifts after Pearl Harbor, Tonkin, or 9/11.

Bottom line: This isn't a path to quick victory but a recipe for escalation, entrapment, and broader disaster.

Mann argues Congress should block funding to prevent it and de-escalation is the only sane course.

The Art of the Deal.

@LauraRuHK

The debut of two AI-generated actors—Qin Lingyue and Lin Xiyan—by Chinese production company Youhug Media has triggered an immediate and intense online backlash. Unveiled on Weibo with full social-media profiles, introductory videos, and starring roles in an upcoming AIGC drama series, the digital performers immediately caused a strong, negative reaction. Within hours, the hashtag "boycott AI actors" dominated trending lists. The reaction reflects the sense of ontological unease felt by viewers when they encounter what Baudrillard called the "precession of simulacra," that is pure simulation, copies with no original referent, signs that dissimulate the absence of any real behind them.

Audiences sensed the void and instinctively recoiled from performers who mimic emotion without ever having felt it. Comments ranged from "creepy perfection," to "soulless eyes." The performers' facial features, which blended traits of existing celebrities like Zhai Zilu, Zhao Jinmai, Zhang Zifeng, and Liang Jie, amplified the sense of disorientation. The backlash is inevitable because these AI-generated actors strike at something fundamental. When flawless digital avatars headline dramas, people feel an existential vertigo. As screens fill with these self-referential ghosts—more consistent, more available, more compliant than any flesh-and-blood actor—the fear grows that what makes us human, and our imperfection is part and parcel of it, could become a liability in the competition with AI. And we'd rather watch a person trained to simulate emotions than an AI-generated actor programmed to convincingly display those emotions. The boycott shows that viewers still prefer the friction of the real to the smooth, indifferent perfection of the hyperreal. @LauraRuHK ➡️ https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202603/1357314.shtml

Il vuoto viene percepito all’istante.

Ask yourself why social media platforms are aggressively promoting a fraud who calls himself "Professor" Jiang Xueqin. He has a BA in English Lit from Yale—no MA, no PhD, never taught at a university. Do your due diligence, FFS! He peddles geopolitical "predictions" and conspiracy-laden "analyses". Bonus red flag: in 2002, China detained and expelled Jiang, a Canadian citizen, branding him a spy while he filmed an undercover PBS documentary on labour protests. No charges were ever filed. Somehow he returned to China and got jobs in private high schools. Title inflation + sketchy past. Why trust him? People crave "prophets", no matter how phony they are, over credentials. I have said it before, but it's worth repeating it again. There are many intelligence assets who have been placed or created in social media spaces in order to assist in controlling narratives at some point in the future, or for even more nefarious purposes and activities. They say all the right things their intended audience wants to hear, gather a large following and gain access to bona fide media outlets and political circles. Don't fall for it. @LauraRuHK

Iran has warned entities that keep financing the US military apparatus that they are now considered legitimate targets.

Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf condemned US Treasury bonds as instruments "soaked in Iranians' blood," saying that purchasing or holding such bonds equates to directly supporting attacks on Iranian lives and territory.

Ghalibaf underscored Iran's advanced monitoring capabilities, stating, "We monitor your portfolios. This is your final notice."

Ghalibaf's statement reflects Iran's longstanding position that the US has weaponized its financial system to fund wars and impose economic terrorism.

Tehran has extended the definition of legitimate military targets to encompass those entities that profit from or actively enable US militarism, and has reaffirmed its inherent and inalienable right to self-defense. (Source: PressTV) @LauraRuHK

@LauraRuHK

Who is behind the fearmongering? Netanyahu's ghost? Given that Netanyahu is actively trying to portray Iran as a threat to “the entire world” and especially to Europe, with the aim of securing military support and drawing other countries into the aggression against Iran, it's irresponsible, and frankly counterproductive, to keep spreading rumours of his death. The genocidal warmonger is still alive and far more dangerous than a ghost will ever be.
