🔶️ In line with Moscow and Beijing’s objective of keeping the West out of energy deals in Iraq to keep Baghdad closer to the new Iran-Saudi axis and to “end [the] Western hegemony in the Middle East [that] will become the decisive chapter in the West’s final demise,” Russia has struck a new deal in one of Iraq’s biggest oil fields. On Wednesday Xi Jinping met with Joe Biden for a summit at the Filoli estate in the south of San Francisco. During the meeting, Xi pointed out that the world today is undergoing major changes unseen in a century, and China and the US have two choices: one is to strengthen unity and cooperation, join hands to meet global challenges, and promote world security and prosperity. The other is to hold a zero-sum mindset, provoke bloc confrontation, and let the world head toward turmoil and division.

These two choices represent two different directions and will determine the future of humanity and the planet. As the most important bilateral relationship in the world, China-US relations should be considered and planned against this grand backdrop, he said.

China and the US cannot turn back against each other and it is unrealistic to try to change the other, and the consequences of conflict and confrontation are unbearable for anyone, Xi stressed. "Great power competition will not solve the problems China, the US, and the world face. This planet is big enough for both China and the US. The success of each is an opportunity for the other." Xi pointed out that China's development follows its own logic and rules, and China is advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through modernization in its own unique style.

China does not follow the old path of colonial plunder or engage in ideological confrontation with any country. It does not export ideology either. Xi emphasized that China has no plans to surpass or replace the US, and the US should not attempt to suppress or contain China.

President Xi also highlighted the importance of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, which are lessons learned from the 50-year history of China-US relations and historical conflicts between great powers. All'ufficio postale di Hong Kong mi viene dato un tablet per compilare un modulo digitale, e sapete quanto sia frustrante quando si è a metà della compilazione e per qualche motivo si riceve un messaggio di errore e si deve ricominciare da capo. L'indirizzo del mittente e del destinatario non basta più, bisogna fornire anche il numero di telefono e l'e-mail. Poi bisogna spuntare la categoria merceologica corrispondente da una lista predefinita. E qui comincia il bello. La lista sembra infinita ma, a differenza della mappa di Borges in scala 1:1, non corrisponde a tutte le possibilita'. Scopro che i libri sono elencati sotto la voce "educational books". Siccome la definizione non mi sembra pertinente - si tratta di un romanzo - continuo a cercare ma non trovo altro. Quindi vada per "materiale educativo". Il mio pacco contiene anche alcuni snack tipici, ma a quanto pare non è possibile inviare un libro e degli snack nella stessa scatola, il sistema non lo prevede. L'impiegata mi suggerisce di fare due pacchi distinti (molto green!) ma ovviamente raddoppierebbe il prezzo. Allora ometto di elencare gli snack nella speranza che nessuno noti il mio attentato alla sicurezza europea. L'intera operazione avrebbe richiesto 2 minuti con carta e penna, con il sistema digitalizzato ce ne sono voluti 20! Trattandosi di posta registrata e tracciabile chiedo la ricevuta, mi viene spiegato che avrei dovuto fare una foto dell'etichetta adesiva che e' stata messa sul pacco. Non ho con me lo smartphone, che lascio spesso a casa, e su mia insistenza l'impiegata fa una fotocopia del pacco. Esco dall'ufficio con ricevuta in formato A4 invece del talloncino di carta copiativa che mi davano di solito. Per fortuna non c'era coda allo sportello, altrimenti sarei stata maledetta a vita. Mi dispiace ma da ora in poi i pacchi li spedisco solo agli amici che vivono fuori dall'UE.😏 @LauraRuHK
