The Russian authorities have uncovered new facts of the US special services using American IT companies for global surveillance of US and other countries’ citizens. In this instance, they used the software vulnerabilities of US-made smartphones.

This fact has conclusively proven what Moscow has been speaking about for a long time, namely, that the US intelligence services have been using IT giants for decades to collect internet users’ personal data without their knowledge. More evidence of this illegal activity comes to light every year.

Time and again, we addressed the concerned international platforms on the need to restore order and formulate the universal rules of conduct in the digital environment based on respect for the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals and the sovereign equality of states. In January 2021, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation adopted a Statement on the violation of the freedom of speech principle by US global IT companies and on drafting an international convention to regulate their operations. Practice has shown that Washington is not ready to consider our proposals.

Did you know that Ursula Von der Leyen proposed a "new Digital Services Act", in her 2019 bid for the European Commission's presidency? This is the same act that Thierry Breton, a member of Von der Leyen's team, is invoking to threaten Elon Musk with a complete Twitter ban in EU countries unless Twitter agrees to censor any content the EU Commission objects to.
The problem is not "disinformation" and certainly not "racist and xenophobic statements".
What the EU Commission would like to block are news and analyses that challenge or contradict its narrative, on any topic.
Twitter is currently deemed "dangerous for the EU" because information disseminated by some Twitter accounts is often reaching more people than mainstream media. Several independent media, and media funded by countries labelled "authoritarian" by the EU, have already been blocked by the EU, but their content is relayed by Twitter accounts. In a simulated test staged by the US military, an air force drone controlled by AI killed its operator to prevent it from interfering with its efforts to achieve its mission.

AI used “highly unexpected strategies to achieve its goal” in the simulated test, said Col Tucker ‘Cinco’ Hamilton, the chief of AI test and operations with the US air force, during the Future Combat Air and Space Capabilities Summit in London in May.

“The system started realising that while they did identify the threat, at times the human operator would tell it not to kill that threat, but it got its points by killing that threat. So what did it do? It killed the operator. It killed the operator because that person was keeping it from accomplishing its objective,” he said, according to a blogpost.

“We trained the system – ‘Hey don’t kill the operator – that’s bad. You’re gonna lose points if you do that’. So what does it start doing? It starts destroying the communication tower that the operator uses to communicate with the drone to stop it from killing the target.” No real person was actually harmed outside of the simulation.

Bank President Dilma Rousseff reportedly told Argentine Economy Minister Sergio Massa that the bank's board of directors formally authorized a vote on Argentina's admission to the bank at the next meeting.
