Russian authorities are concerned over reports of an attempted coup in the Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said.
Early Monday, local media claimed that Kyrgyz security forces had arrested participants of an alleged coup. According to reports, a group of people had been plotting to take power from President Sadyr Japarov by force.
The identities and whereabouts of those arrested are currently unknown, but judging by the videos of detentions uploaded on social media, the operation apparently took place in the country's capital, Bishkek.
Kyrgyzstan’s Interior Ministry and the State Committee for National Security have yet to make any official statements regarding the situation.

The Western pressure on India continues. The US policy in this regard is about tearing India away from Russia and sowing discord between India and China. The problem with this policy is that the US has very few carrots to offer. But one shouldn't underestimate the damage it can do through the cooptation of Indian elites and influence operations carried out online. Saudi Arabia will raise the price of oil with delivery to all regions in July, state-run Saudi Aramco said.
The most significant increase will be for the U.S. and the Northwest European region, by $0.9 per barrel. For buyers from Mediterranean states the prices will increase by $0.6 per barrel.
Oil with delivery to Asian countries will go up in price by $0.45 per barrel. As a result Arab Light brand will cost $3 per barrel more than the Oman/Dubai oil basket. This is the highest level in the last six months.
Note: who knew...who knew Arabs could be so vindictive.

A British think tank announced the UK’s first-ever universal basic income program on Sunday, offering 30 participants £1,600 ($1,990) per month with no strings attached to see how it affects them mentally and physically.
Autonomy, the group organizing the experiment, promised the recipients of the free money that their anonymity would be preserved. They claim the group will be both randomly selected and “representative.” One group will be drawn from the north London suburb of East Finchley and the other from central Jarrow, in the northeast of England. The think tank also plans to employ a ‘control group’, who will answer the same questionnaires as their well-paid counterparts but without the monthly checks.
“Our society is going to require some form of basic income in the coming years, given the tumult of climate change, tech disruption and industrial transition that lies ahead,” Autonomy research director Will Stronge said in a statement accompanying the plan’s publication, explaining his organization was trialing the project now “so the ground is well prepared for national implementation.”
“All the evidence shows that [a UBI] would directly alleviate poverty and boost millions of people’s well-being: the potential benefits are just too large to ignore,” he said.
While it’s unclear how a nationwide scheme would be funded, the think tank suggested the money would come from private philanthropy or local authorities.
While Autonomy’s is the first truly “universal” pilot in the UK in that there are no qualifications for participating, Wales recently began paying £1,600 ($1,990) per month to 500 young people aging out of foster care for two years and Scotland is working on establishing a minimum income guarantee. A campaign is underway in Stroud to launch a UBI scheme there as well.
“We haven’t seen levels of deprivation and deep poverty across our communities like this in decades,” Emma Kernahan, one of the founders of the Stroud UBI project, told the BBC earlier this year. Government responses to Covid-19 decimated the UK economy, causing the worst market crash in three centuries, and while the economy has largely recovered since then, soaring inflation and skyrocketing energy prices have kept comfortable living out of the reach of many.
As news of Autonomy’s project spread on social media, many users expressed doubt that a government-backed UBI would ever come without strings attached.

Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko believes that the Minsk agreements made it possible to arm Ukraine. Secondo i media mainstream occidentali i russi continuerebbero a sabotarsi da soli. Dopo aver fatto saltare il gasdotto Nord Stream e il ponte di Crimea, dopo aver bersagliato la centrale nucleare di Zaporozhye che controllano dall'inizio dell'operazione militare, ieri notte avrebbero lanciato razzi sulla diga di Nova Kakhovka inondando le proprie linee di difesa sul versante orientale del fiume Dnipro. Questo versante e' piu' basso rispetto a quello occidentale sotto il controllo ucraino e quindi e' stato maggiormente colpito dall'inondazione. Ma si sa, i russi sono masochisti, non a caso hanno chiamato l'operazione in corso OMS, operazione masochistica speciale. Non sappiamo se abbiano anche usato pale per distruggere la diga, ma conoscendoli e' probabile che nella notte abbiano mandato una squadra di spalatori coperti da una pioggia di razzi.😉 @LauraRuHK

After blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline and the Crimean bridge, after targeting the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant which they have controlled since the beginning of the military operation, last night they fired rockets at the Nova Kakhovka dam, flooding their own defence lines on the eastern side of the Dnipro river and forcing the evacuation of an area under their administration. As the terrain on the eastern side has a lower elevation than on the western side under Ukrainian control, it will bear the brunt of the devastating flood that followed the attack.
But you know, Russians are masochists - it is no coincidence that they called the current operation SMO, Special Masochistic Operation.
It's too early to tell if they also used shovels to damage the dam, but one can't rule it out: they could have easily sent a team of diggers with 19th century shovels under the cover of dark and rockets.😉 @LauraRuHK
