Ukraine Considered Dirty Bomb Attack Against Russia — FSB

Ukrainian military intelligence considered detonating a “dirty bomb” on Russian territory, the Federal Security Service (FSB) in Moscow has claimed.

According to an FSB statement released Tuesday, Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) has a unique branch operating low-altitude light aircraft that smuggles supplies to saboteurs or conducts surprise bombing sorties.

The FSB published footage from interrogations with two apparent Ukrainian pilots captured after attempting missions on behalf of the GUR near Tula (200km from Moscow) and Bryansk region, one of whom said Kiev had planned to use the method to drop a dirty bomb - an explosive laced with radioactive material - inside Russian territory.

Non ho mai messo piede in Ucraina, ma ho incontrato molti giovani ucraini all'estero e mi sono resa conto che spesso manifestano gli stessi meccanismi psicologici che ho osservato a Hong Kong tra i giovani che partecipavano alle rivolte, in realta' tentativi di rivoluzioni colorate orchestrate da forze esterne.

Tra questi meccanismi spiccano l'invidia e il risentimento nei confronti di chi pero' viene continuamente dipinto come inferiore. Per decenni gli abitanti di Hong Kong hanno puntellato la propria fragile autostima, problema diffuso nelle colonie, con un senso di superiorita' nei confronti dei cinesi della Cina continentale, considerati dei parenti poveri e poco raffinati. Quando attraversavano il confine con i dollari in tasca si sentivano ricchi, potevano banchettare in ristoranti che costavano un terzo di quelli della loro citta', erano vestiti meglio dei cugini di campagna a cui andavano a fare visita in occasione delle feste, sfoggiavano abiti di marca e portavano regalini a tutti.

Ma con il passare del tempo i loro dollari valevano sempre meno in rapporto allo yuan, i parenti si arricchivano e potevano acquistare le stesse marche, alcuni status symbol erano diventati accessibili anche agli operai cinesi, il cui potere d'acquisto era simile a quello di chi svolgeva un lavoro manuale a Hong Kong. Se prima la classe media di Hong Kong si vantava di mandare i propri figli a studiare all'estero, presto quelle scuole e universita' considerate "esclusive" contavano tra i loro iscritti un numero altissimo di studenti provenienti da ogni angolo della Cina continentale.

Crollava cosi' anche l'ultimo bastione di una presunta superiorita': ormai gli studenti del continente parlavano l'inglese meglio dei loro compatrioti di Hong Kong. Quindi dovevano trovare un nuovo capitale simbolico per mantenere la distinzione sociale. Lo identificarono nella democrazia liberale, che ai loro occhi divenne una sorta di mito, una religione di cui si consideravano adepti. Ma i loro parenti, colleghi, clienti e fornitori nella Repubblica Popolare non sembravano particolarmente inclini a riconoscere questa presunta superiorita' di un modello di governo su cui venivano riposte cosi' tante speranze a Hong Kong. Presto si ribaltarono i rapporti, se i giovani di Hong Kong non trovavano un lavoro ben pagato e non potevano emanciparsi dalle loro famiglie, i loro coetanei di Shenzhen, Pechino e Shanghai avevano a disposizione un ascensore sociale che li portava a guadagnare piu' dei loro genitori. Ammettere di soffrire d'Invidia per chi consideravano inferiore non era possibile, pena lo sgretolamento della propria autostima, quindi questo sentimento si poteva tradurre solo in risentimento e odio.
Presto ai loro occhi il Partito Comunista, e quindi il governo di Hong Kong che consideravano un'estensione di quello di Pechino, divenne la fonte di tutti i loro problemi, la culla di ogni male. Nel 2019-20 fecero proprio uno slogan di Hunger Games: Se noi bruciamo, voi brucerete con noi. E dalle parole passarono ai fatti, dando sfogo ad una follia distruttiva e autodistruttiva.

I nazionalisti ucraini non possono ammettere a loro stessi che in Russia si vive meglio che in patria, perche' significherebbe ammettere che la strada intrapresa e' quella sbagliata e quindi desiderano la distruzione di Mosca con lo stesso accanimento con cui i giovani radicalizzati di Hong Kong vorrebbero distruggere Pechino. Purtroppo e' l'intero occidente ad essere finito in questo delirio. @LauraRuHK

Ukrainian saboteurs have blown up an ammonia pipeline in the Kharkiv region.

On June 5, around 21:00 Moscow time, a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group blew up an ammonia pipeline between Togliatti and Odessa near the settlement of Masyutovka in the north-east of the Kharkiv region.

The Russian Defence ministry described the incident as an act of terrorism and reported that civilians were injured and are receiving medical treatment.

The 2,500-kilometre ammonia pipeline between Togliatti and Odessa was built in the late 1970s, with the first line commissioned in October 1979. It used to transport about 2.5 million tons of raw materials annually. Transit was stopped on 24 February 2022. Unlocking the ammonia pipeline is one of Russia's demands as part of the grain deal. @LauraRuHK

Thousands of animals killed in Novaya Kakhovka national park after dam collapse

A national park in the city of Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson Region has been submerged under water after the dam was struck at the city’s hydroelectric power plant, resulting in the deaths of thousands of animals, Mayor Vladimir Leontyev said on Wednesday.

"The Nizhnedneprovsky national park has been inundated and the thousands of animals who were housed there have perished," Leontyev told the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

Earlier, Ukrainian media reports said beavers, swans and dogs had died in Novaya Kakhovka. The reports claimed that a zoo containing around 300 animals had been flooded. However, a spokesperson for the city’s emergency services told TASS that the reports were untrue.

The city mayor explained that last year all animals from the Kazkova Dibrova zoo were evacuated and put under the care of volunteers.

"But besides the zoo, there was a national park before the flooding: red Book birds, roe deer, beavers, boars - a huge fauna. So, these animals, thousands of them, have been wiped out. Nesting sites and clutches of eggs have been destroyed," he said.

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko has condemned the actions of the Kiev regime, which destroyed the Kakhovka hydro plant and "committed real ecocide" in the Kherson Region.

"Today, several settlements have been inundated, the floods pose a threat to more than 20,000 civilians, including children. Waste facilities, burial grounds and sewage treatment plants have been submerged under water. Animals have been killed. <...> This crime by the Kiev regime must be considered and condemned on the UN platform," Abramchenko told the upper house, the Federation Council, on Wednesday.

According to her, several unique natural sites rest on the inundated territory, including the Nizhnedneprovsky national park and Gileya, which now will have no chance of being used for recreation for a long time to come.

Ukrainian forces shelled the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) in the early morning hours on June 6, which resulted in the collapse of the hydraulic sluice gate valves on the plant’s dam, triggering an uncontrolled discharge of water. Water levels in Novaya Kakhovka reached 12 meters but are now receding. According to emergency services, there are 15 settlements in the flood zone. The residents of nearby communities are being evacuated. The destruction of the power generation facility has seriously damaged the environment, washing away farmland along the Dnieper River and threatening water levels in the North Crimean Canal. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that the attack on the Kakhovka HPP was a premeditated act of sabotage. He added that the responsibility for its consequences fully lies with the Kiev regime. American journalist Aaron Mate', who writes for The Grayzone, shared a list of Twitter accounts that the Ukrainian intelligence agency SBU had asked the FBI to remove. Twitter was also asked to share user data with the SBU. In March 2022, an FBI Special Agent sent Twitter the list.

The Ukrainian government’s targets extend to members of the media, mainly Russian but also American and Canadian. The SBU list included Aaron Mate's name. In its response to the FBI, Twitter agreed to review the accounts for “inauthenticity” but raised concerns about the inclusion of “American and Canadian journalists.”

The US media has launched a targeted campaign regarding the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant in an attempt to shift the Ukrainian responsibility on Russia and to ‘whitewash’ the Kiev regime, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov told journalists on Thursday.

"There is a targeted disinformation campaign going on in the US media around the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant," he said.

"There are many insinuations about the fact that Russia allegedly has blown up the most important infrastructure facility," Antonov continued. "Administration officials have framed their rhetoric as if the Russian Federation were in any case responsible for all incidents that occur during the Ukrainian conflict."

"Such an approach does not stand up to scrutiny. This is another desperate attempt to "whitewash" the Kiev regime, which deliberately shelled the station for many months," the Russian ambassador stated.

According to Antonov, "We have witnessed yet another gross violation of International humanitarian law by Ukraine."

"A terrorist attack that led to an ecological disaster, large-scale flooding of settlements and farmland. Endangered the functioning of the North Crimean Canal," he continued. "Experts have yet to assess the imminent consequences for the cooling circuit of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant as a result of this tragedy."

"Washington patrons never criticize Kiev. All actions of the regime are approved of, while any strikes, that Russians suffer from, are encouraged," Antonov noted. "This is a textbook example of an ill-conceived, flawed position that has already caused serious upheavals in the world. However, this is obviously not enough for the United States, and terrorist acts of Ukraine will receive further support."
