Si sta avvicinando la data di scadenza di Zelensky? - A fronte dell'insuccesso della controffensiva ucraina, nelle ultime settimane stiamo assistendo ad un graduale raffreddamento dell'entusiasmo per il regime di Kiev da parte dei media occidentali. La narrazione sta cambiando e ora viene permesso ad alcune voci critiche di rompere il muro di omerta' che regna nella sfera dell'informazione mainstream. Lo scandalo del veterano ucraino delle SS applaudito come una rock star nel parlamento canadese durante la visita di Zelensky e' finito su tutti i giornali con grave danno anche all'immagine del fronte pro-Ucraina. Zelensky sta diventando una figura scomoda - nonostante sia un attore non sembra adatto ad interpretare un ruolo diverso da quello che gli era stato inizialmente assegnato dalla regia. Secondo la Maritime Transport Review della Conferenza delle Nazioni Unite per il Commercio e lo Sviluppo (UNCTAD), nel 2023 i carichi di cereali hanno percorso la distanza maggiore di sempre.

🔹There are no objective grounds for substantive changes in the general EU policy on our country either in the short or medium term. The ongoing demonisation of Russia continues at full speed.

EU ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE

🔹We tend to believe the confession made by the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell, that the EU policy in Africa has not been successful. The main reason thereof is, in our view, obvious – Brussels is unwilling to abandon the neo-colonial practices used by the West, which include financial and economic pressure on African countries, the aggressive promotion of neo-liberal policies, and the extortion of natural, economic and intellectual resources from former colonies.

🔹Brussels has always insisted that the extraterritorial application of unilateral sanctions is contrary to international law. Despite this, the "anti-circumvention tool" adopted within the 11th "package" actually legitimises extraterritorial application of the EU restrictive measures. Obviously, this mechanism is nothing but a way to force third countries to join the economic war against Russia unleashed by the West.

SANCTIONS

🔹The logic behind the sanctions pressure against our country - to punish all Russians without exception for the fact that, contrary to Western expectations and forecasts, they retain a sense of dignity and do not intend to change their ideas about life and Russia's future under the influence of external circumstances.

🔹Recently, the EU's political guidelines have been increasingly at odds with the economic interests of Member States and entire sectors of their economies. It is not fatigue that may slow down the strengthening of sanctions pressure, but rather the growing differences that already exist or will emerge both in Brussels' relations with a number of European capitals and between Member States.

Russia's socio-economic situation
January-August 2023

▪️ GDP in August 2023 exceeded the level of the previous year by 5.2% p.a. The level of two years ago was exceeded by 2.4%. In the first 8 months of this year, GDP grew by 2.5% per annum.

▪️ Industrial production accelerated to 5.4% y/y in August after 4.9% y/y in July. Overall, industrial production grew by 3.0% in the first 8 months of 2023.

▪️ The machine-building sector continued to show high growth rates in August: +34.0% y/y after +45.5% y/y in July.
Accelerated growth is still recorded in almost all sub-sectors: production of computer and electronic equipment (+54.2% y/y), electrical equipment (+26.1% y/y), production of motor vehicles (+41.8% y/y) and other 1 The July estimate is revised 0.1 pp. "The estimate for July was revised upwards by 0.1 p.p., taking into account Rosstat's refinement of retrospective data on wholesale and retail trade. 2 vehicles (+32.5% yoy).

▪️ In August the growth of wholesale trade volumes amounted to 23.0% yoy (after 24.8% yoy a month earlier). At the end of 8 months, trade volumes were 6.1% y/y higher than a year ago.

▪️ Retail trade turnover growth accelerated to 11.0% yoy in August after 10.8% yoy in July. Overall, the indicator grew by 3.7% in the first 8 months of the year.

The Ministry of Economic Development in September raised its forecast for Russian GDP growth in 2023 to 2.8% from 1.2% in the April version.
On September 15, the Bank of Russia maintained its forecast for Russian GDP growth in 2023 at the level of 1.5-2.5%.

Output by basic types of activities in the Russian Federation grew by 7.3% in August, up 4.2% over 8 months
The index is calculated on the basis of data on changes in the physical volume of agricultural production, industrial production, construction, freight turnover of transport, retail and wholesale trade.

Kraus used the term ‘Katastrophe der Phrasen’ (Catastrophe of Clichés) to describe how the use of clichés and stereotypes by journalists and in everyday language leads to war. The most enduring and misleading clichés about Russia are the product of Western racism and ignorance about the country. When Russians are racialized as "Asiatic" to stir up Russophobia in Ukraine and in the West, when Russia is portrayed as a backward, barbaric country you can be sure that the peddlers of these clichés know next to nothing about Russia. The Orwellian "Ignorance is Strength" was supposed to keep the masses blind and the Party in power, but when the Party believes the lies it tells the masses, the result is war and...defeat. Sun Tzu said "Know the enemy and know yourself in a hundred battles you will never be in peril. When you are ignorant of the enemy but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal.
