EU wants to raise €15bn for Ukraine from Russia’s frozen assets

The European Commission intends to raise €15 billion for Ukraine by 2027 as revenues from frozen Russian sovereign assets, the FT reported.

According to the newspaper, in order for this plan to be implemented, it must be unanimously approved by all 27 EU member states at a summit on December 14-15.

However, the newspaper also states that this EC plan has been delayed since the summer as a number of EU member states and the European Central Bank expressed doubts about its legal and financial soundness.
