Stored XSS (Stored Cross-Site Scripting) is a high-impact web vulnerability where malicious JavaScript is permanently stored on a target application (e.g., in comments, profiles, messages, or uploaded content). When other users access the affected page, the script executes automatically in their browsers.
Successful exploitation can lead to session hijacking, account takeover, sensitive data theft, phishing attacks, unauthorized actions on behalf of victims, and complete compromise of user interactions. Because the payload persists on the server and affects multiple users, Stored XSS is generally considered more severe than Reflected XSS and remains one of the most critical web application security vulnerabilities.
