Today marks the establishment of the Election Commission of India on January 25, 1950. Since 2011, this day has been celebrated as National Voters' Day.
This year's theme: "There’s nothing like voting, I definitely vote!" 💪
➡️ Article 324 of the Indian Constitution envisions the Election Commission of India.
➡️ The Election Commission is led by the Chief Election Commissioner and two other Election Commissioners.
➡️ Their tenure is 6 years or until they reach the age of 65, whichever comes first.
➡️ Current Chief Election Commissioner: Rajeev Kumar (25th CEC).
➡️ The voting age in India is now 18 years (reduced from 21 through the 61st Constitutional Amendment).
