Bhojeshwar Shiva temple, Madhya Pradesh.
This is an incomplete #Shiva temple located in #Bhojpur, #Bhopal.
It is believed that construction of this unfinished temple was started in 11th century, during #Paramara King Bhoja's ruling.
The reasons for the abandonment of the construction are unknown (It is said that it may have been due to natural disaster, war or lack of resources). But you can find the architectural plans engraved on the rocks in surrounding area.
If you study the carved architectural plans carved, you will come to know that originally a larger temple complex was planned and if it had been completed, it would have been one of the largest temple premises in India.
Also not many people know this but it houses one of the #tallest and #grandest #Shiva #lingams in it's sanctum which is about 7.5 ft. high and 17.8 ft. in circumference and is built in single rock (limestone) on a huge platform.

11th century #Hindu_temple in #Bhojpur on the outskirts of #Bhopal. This town of Bhojpur is famous for the #Bhojeshwar #temple built by #Raja_Bhoj of the #Paramara dynasty in Central India.
The Bhojpur temple has one of the tallest and grandest #Shiva #Lingams in India.
And it’s built out of a single rock. Considering this 1000 year old #Shiva temple was actually unfinished, imagine how grand it would have looked had it been completed.

The very origin of #Hampi's history as a sacred place revolves around the myths associated with this temple.

Kalpa is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘aeon’ or ‘age’.
It’s the unit of time to measure very long time periods, especially the ages of the devas and devis.
One #Kalpa is the one day (12 hours, as we say) of Bhagwan #Brahma and it equals to 1008 maha-yugas.
One #Kalpa equals 4.32 billion years. It’s said that it is the 51st year of Bhagwan #Brahma and more than 36500 Kalpas were spent before #Brahma created the current #Universe.
It’s been not more than two Kalpas since the current universe had its genesis.

One of the most mesmerizing sculpture from #cheenakeshava temple
Notice the robe of #shalabhanjika above her knees. So consciously carved that it looks separated from the main sculpture which gives u a impression as if she is actually wearing a dress.

Varanga : the #Jain temple complex during monsoons.
The history of #Varanga goes back to 13th century where it is believed that #Jakalamahadevi, wife of #Alupa_Kulashekara-I (1060–1120) built the pond which is the prime attraction today.
The #Kere_Basadi , a square shaped #temple which is in the midst of the pond can be reached by only a boat.

A beautiful relief carving depicting worship of 'Aiduka' in a shrine, #Lingraj temple(#Bhubaneswar)
#Aiduka is a #Stupa like structure extolled in #VishnuDharmottara purana for encompassing the essence of universe including #Trimurti(s). Note #Chhatra with #Amalasara above #lingam on a #Bhadrapitha.
No! Unlike Stupa, #Aiduka of VD Purana has no relics in it. It is more of a worship of symbolism, essence as described in the text.
Three #Bhadrapitha are #TriGuna, spherical/cylindrical portion is #Shiva, square #Harmika is #Vishnu and central pillar is #Brahman, 14 umbrella are 14 #Bhuvana.
Spherical mound has traditionally been associated with memorial shrine from ancient #Dholavira to modern #Pindis/Bīr. VD has not a slightest hint of it.

Goddess Hingula is worshipped with great devotion by the people of the surrounding areas. It is located at a distance of 14 K.M from Talcher
Goddess Hingula is believed to
be the agni(fire) in the Kitchen of Lord Jagannath at Shree Mandir Puri
When Lord Siva had torn apart the body of Sati (Parbati), each of the 52 pieces that fell was known as 'Shakti Pitha'. But a piece
identified as Brahmandreya fell at Beluchistan of present Pakistan where shakti appeared in
burning fire state
In course of time Nala Raja
of Vidarva region of western India became an ardent devotee of Maa who resided in his kingdom
In Puri when the Raja decided to
start 'anna prasad' Lord #Jagannath responding to His prayer asked him to bring Hingula to manage his kitchen. Accordingly Puri Raja
went to #Vidarva and requested him to pray Maa to come to Puri. Nala Raja on the request of Puri Raja brought the Goddess on his wrapper in form of fire and in course of his journey reached at Gopalgarh where he took rest.
