#Prachi valley is one of the corner stone of the cultural landscape of Odisha.
Its the land of confluence of religions & syncretisation of faiths.
The monuments stand testament of what once was a vibrant socio cultural canvas. From the forgotten chapters of history, one page belongs to the temple which goes by the name #Madhukesvara.
#Madhukesvara is located on the banks of #Kusabhadra river (a tributary of #Mahanadi) at #Deulidharpur in #Banamalipur block (22 km from Bhubaneswar).
The miniature #Shiva Temple is characterized by the #torana (Arched Gate) similar in concept to that of #Mukteswara Temple in #Bhubaneswar.

Model of surgery, Kaushambi
Dated: ~2nd century CE or older
The figurine shows the dissected stomach with the intestine peeping out. Probably it served as a model for the students of surgery.

Once upon a time #Tallari_Gatta of #Anegundi is one of the main entrance to enter in to the #Vijayanagar kingdom.
You can find an antiq #Nandi statue on the Anegundi side of this place.
As you see in the picture a carving of #lingam carved on his body which is very rare. And if you notice carefully at that place then you can notice that it's facing little towards the grave of #Bali.
The environment of this place is very calm and peaceful.

Near the Gwalior Fort and dedicated to #Vishnu in his #Padmanabha form, like most #Hindu and #Jain temples in this region, it is mostly in ruins and was badly damaged from numerous invasions and #Hindu_Muslim wars in the region.
It was built in 1093 by King #Mahipala of the #Kachchhapaghata dynasty
According to an inscription found in the larger of the twin temple. The twin temples are situated in the Gwalior Fort.
The temple's #tower and #sanctum has been destroyed, but its architecture and damaged carvings can still be appreciated from the ruins.

The Nandi's long wait
This is the Nandi of Kashi Vishwanath temple. Unlike those of other temples, this Nandi does not face the temple. Nandi faces away from the temple & towards the adjacent 'Gyan Vapi' mosque.
❓ Why ?
Because Gyanvapi mosque was the original Kashi Vishvanath temple.

Teli ka Mandir, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India
Teli ka Mandir, also known as #Telika_Temple, is a Hindu temple located within the #Gwalior_Fort in Madhya Pradesh, India. Dedicated to #Vishnu, #Shiva and #Matrikas, it has been variously dated between the early 8th and early 9th century CE.
It is an unusual Hindu temple, as it has a #rectangular #sanctum instead of the typical square. It integrates the architectural elements of the #Nagara style and the #Valabhi prasada that looks like the #Dravidian #wagon_vault topped #gopuram superstructure.
The temple is based on a #Pratihara_Gopagiri style North Indian architecture.

The Telika Mandir is generally dated to between 8th and 9th century based on #paleography, art-style, architectural design and small inscriptions found within the temple premises.
According to #Michael_Meister, an art historian and a professor specializing in Indian temple architecture, the temple was built by 750 CE, per the most recently discovered inscriptions in #Gwalior.
#George_Michell, another art historian and a professor specializing in Indian temples, the temple was complete by the 9th century.
#Bharne and #Krusche place the temple between 700 and 750 CE, while #Allen places it in the 8th century.According to Allen, some local literature states it to be from the 11th century, but the evidence suggests that this late #chronology is inaccurate.
According to #Bajpai, the temple may have been built during the reign of the #Gurjara_Pratihara_Mihira_Bhoja.

The temple shows signs of extensive damage and change.
It was badly damaged in the plunder raids by #Muslim army of #Qutb_ud_din _Aibak and his successor #Iltutmish in 1232 CE along with other temples in the fort following a #jauhar, parts of the ruins were then used to apparently build a #mosque nearby.
The #mosque was in turn apparently destroyed by Hindu Maratha army centuries later.
The temple was restored by the Hindus after the desecration by #Iltutmish forces, which speculated #Cunningham, may explain some of the features that appear from a later era.
The temple has icons and inscriptions related to all three major traditions of #Hinduism: #Shaivism, #Vaishnavism and #Shaktism.
