Varanasi court has allowed archaelogical survey of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple - Gyanvapi mosque complex.

Demolition of Kashi Vishwanath was ordered by Aurangzeb in 1669.

ASI will constitute 5 member committee & latest non-invasive technology to be used.

Do we really need archaelogical survey for this site? Well yes, but everything is clear.

"Gem of Kalinga architecture"

The Mukteswar temple is a Shiva temple, where Shiva is in the form of Mukta, the Lord of the salvation

According to noted historian KC Panigrahi, the temple is believed to have been built in the reign of Yayati I of the Somavamsi dynasty

The walls of the Mukteswar temple are also carved with detailed and exquisite sculptures of beautiful women, nagas and naginis with human upper bodies and skeletal looking ascetics in deep meditation, believed to be praying for Mukti

Virupaksha temple, in worship, known as ‘Shri Lokeswara-Maha-Sila-prasada’ from the epigraphs, was built by Lokamahadevi, the Queen of Vikaramaditya II (A.D.733-745) in about A.D.740 to commemorate her husband’s victory over the Pallavas of Kanchipuram. It closely resembles the Kailasanatha temple at Kanchipuram on plan and elevation and represents a fully developed and perfected stage of the Dravidian architecture.
.
The Nandi-mandapa situated to the east of the temple, is a square pavilion open on all the four sides. It houses a large image of Nandi on a raised floor. Its flat roof is supported by four pillars and short lengths of walls whose outer surfaces are carved with attendant figutes and Kinnara-mithunas (couples).

Hirapur Yogini temple is considered to be the most famous among the Yogini temples of Odisha & Madhya Pradesh.
There are just 54 statues in the circuler fashioned open air temple which doesn't have a roof like the usual Kalinga style of architecture seen across the state.
In the center is a Chandi Mandapa that has the remaining 8 Goddesses on all 4 sides, thus Hirapur Chausath Yogini temple has only statues of 62 Yoginis instead of 64.

The locals doesn't talk much about the Tantric Secrets of the place. The fear of Yoginis goes back all the way to ancient times. The Brahmanda Purans, one of the 18 major Puranas details facts about cult of Tantra Sadhana, it states that anyone who reveals the secrets of the Purana will be cursed by the Yoginis.
Some researchers have written about the temples & have mentioned that whosoever reveals the secrets becomes the food for the Yoginis.
The temple is believed to have been built by Queen Hiradevi of the Bramha dynasty during the 9th century.
The legend behind the temple, according to local priests, is that the Goddess Durga took the form of 64 demi-goddesses to defeat a demon. After the fight the 64 goddesses, equated with yoginis, asked Durga to commemorate them in the form of a temple structure.
