🇺🇸 USAF VC-25A 92-9000 used as #AirForceOne out from Andrews & appears to be heading towards Florida. Trump's scheduled to go back to DC today. The other VC-25 (82-8000) that took him down there before Christmas is still on the ground at Palm Beach. 🤷♂️

RT @MrGlenCarroll: Trump’s $400M “Flying Palace” Gift from Qatar: Legal Red Flags, Security Risks, and Coincidental Grift
1. The Deal:
- President Trump is set to accept a **$400 million Boeing 747-8** from Qatar’s royal family during his Middle East trip this week. The jet, dubbed a “flying palace,” will temporarily serve as **Air Force One** before being transferred to the **Trump Presidential Library Foundation** in 2029 .
- The plane lacks critical security features of the current Air Force One fleet (e.g., radiation shielding, advanced missile defense) and will require retrofitting by defense contractor **L3Harris**.
2. Legal Controversy:
- The **Emoluments Clause** (Article I, Section 9) prohibits federal officials from accepting gifts from foreign states without Congressional consent. Trump’s DOJ and White House lawyers argue the gift is legal because it’s given to the **Air Force**, not Trump personally.
- Critics, including Rep. Jamie Raskin and Sen. Adam Schiff, call this a “grift,” arguing the clause applies regardless of intermediaries: *“A gift you use for four years and then deposit in your library is still a gift”*.
3. Security Risks:
- The Qatari jet will have **limited capabilities** compared to existing Air Force One planes, including no air-to-air refueling and weaker communications systems .
- Experts warn of **espionage risks**: “Qatar will surely offer a plane that satisfies their needs as well” (Juliette Kayyem, Harvard) .
4. Coincidental Timing & Conflicts of Interest:
- Trump’s first foreign trip (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE) mirrors his 2017 itinerary, raising questions about policy alignment with personal/family financial ties:
- **Jared Kushner’s $2B Saudi investment** (post-White House) .
- **Trump Org’s $5.5B Qatar golf resort deal** announced weeks ago .
- The Trump Organization’s ethics agreement now allows deals with **foreign private companies** (a reversal from his first term) .
5. Public Backlash:
- Legal scholars: “This is corruption in its rawest form” .
- White House response: Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed concerns as “ridiculous,” claiming Trump “lost money for being president”.
Trump’s plan to accept a luxury plane from Qatar is blatantly unconstitutional. US foreign policy under Donald Trump is up for sale.”
> — Robert Weissman, Public Citizen.

Call to Action:
Demand accountability: Foreign gifts to presidents must require **Congressional approval**. Share if you agree no leader should profit from office.
