What started as possible move of around half a dozen tankers from Spain to Ramstein Airbase in Germany, now appears to be a full-on withdrawal of the entire tanker fleet from Moron Airbase (LEMO) and Naval Air Station Rota (LERT), implying the Spanish government have told the US to leave - Spain has publicly condemned the joint US-Israeli operation in Iran, while this evening the UK, Germany and France appear to be preparing to support the US effort after Iran's continued indiscriminate targeting of civilians in the Middle East.

I am releasing this information now as the bombers are clear of the combat area back over the Atlantic heading home.
We have slightly more information today on the tankers involved, despite the sheer chaos going on around the mission overnight!

These 3 bombers have arrived into RAF Fairford a short while ago having completed their bombing mission, and will likely fly all of their future missions from the UK. As I'm unsure what tankers supported this operation this time, I have included all the major tanker bases in the EUCOM/CENTCOM area on this map.

Yesterday (15th March 2026) the US bomber fleet at RAF Fairford (EGVA) launched 2 bombing missions with 2 different bomber types to Iran, one that departed around 0930Z and another that departed around 1230Z. Both missions arrived back at RAF Fairford overnight - 2 separate maps today because of the two different bomber types:

Alongside a single flight of B-1B "Lancer" bombers from RAF Fairford, the other visitors to Iran yesterday were a flight of B-2A "Spirit" bombers from Whiteman AFB (KSZL) in the mainland US. At present it's unclear how many bombers exactly (I'm sure we'll hear from CENTCOM at some point), but based on analysis of the tanker assets involved in the mission compared with previous B-2 runs, I believe 4 or more bombers is likely.
These have likely hit targets in Iran that the UK was not permitting Fairford-based B-1/B-52 aircraft to hit. The B-2s are confirmed to be somewhere over the mid-Atlantic heading home now, hence posting this at this time.
This is the 40th bomber mission I've tracked since the start of #OperationEpicFury!
