Curt turned it into a command: staffed from across the Alliance and beyond it, and operating from day one at the tempo the war demands.
He set the imprint.
Those who follow will work inside the architecture he designed.

You take command of a mission that matters.

Why does #NSATU matter?
Because Russia's unprovoked and brutal war of aggression was, among other things, also a bet on Allied attention spans.
NSATU is a key element of our answer to that bet.
It replaces improvisation with predictability.
For Ukraine, it means planning horizons instead of surprises, donations sequenced, training synchronised, equipment sustained, requirements read directly from the front through Ukrainian officers embedded in the headquarters and at every node.
For Allies, it means coherence, accountability and fair burden-sharing.
And it supports Ukraine's inherent right of self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

It is also, quietly, a deterrent instrument.
Deterrence is not only forces in being; it is demonstrated staying power.
A standing NATO command dedicated to Ukraine's defence tells Moscow that time is not a Russian ally.

There is a second dividend, and it flows back to us.
This war has taught the Alliance more about modern warfare than a decade of exercises could.
We imagined the wars of this century as bits and bytes. What we are watching is different: mass and machines together — soldiers, artillery, logistics under fire, married to cheap, fast, tactically decisive solutions, uncrewed systems and applied AI iterating in weeks, not procurement cycles.
NSATU sits where that knowledge is generated, and it feeds both our Strategic Commands: @SHAPE_NATO for how we fight, @NATO_ACT for how we change.
Ukraine is not only a recipient of Allied support. It is a teacher.

The Military Committee has followed this mission since its inception, and will continue to.

Ukrainian artillerymen of the 147th Artillery Brigade reacted swiftly after aerial reconnaissance detected enemy artillery activity.

🎯 HIMARS and CAESAR crews struck the targets, destroying 4 artillery guns along with their crews and 2 field ammunition depots.

Less enemy artillery means fewer strikes on Ukrainian positions — and more pressure on enemy infantry trying to infiltrate between defensive positions.

Ukraine’s 66th Mechanized Brigade says it liberated Serednie in Donetsk region during Operation Vivaldi.
