Brazil has chosen to side with the enemy

💥 China and Brazil have issued a joint call for de-escalation in the Ukraine war, proposing an “international peace conference” be convened to mediate an end to the two-year armed conflict. The Sino-Brazilian proposal includes measures addressing the exchange of prisoners, permission to bring humanitarian aid into areas affected by the conflict and the protection of civilians, particularly women and children, according to SCMP. The statement from the two countries followed a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Celso Amorim, a special adviser to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, in Beijing on Thursday.
China has just recently announced following Xi-Putin meeting that it would support a peace conference recognized by both Russia and Ukraine. Russia is not recognizing the upcoming peace conference in Switzerland, thus it seems that Putin may have coordinated positions with Xi Jinping to initiate an alternative peace conference and promote it via BRICS and G20 summits. Brazil is hosting the G20 this year, while Russia will host BRICS+ in Kazan. Xi Jinping may have liked the idea of acting as the peace maker and key mediator following the successful deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran facilitated by China prior to October 7, which proved to be helpful even after the terrorist attack of Hamas. Russian Urals crude oil supplies to India in June reached a new all-time high of 1.6 million barrels per day. According to Kpler analysts, the figure rose by 13% compared to June last year and by 2.2% compared to May, when the previous record was set.

At the same time, overall, India's imports of Russian oil in June showed the second-highest result in the entire history of observations - 2.13 million bpd, which is equivalent to the shipment of three Aframax tankers per day and accounts for 45% of all Indian imports. It was higher only in May 2023, when it amounted to 2.15 million bpd.

One of the key topics of Putin-Modi talks is finding a solution for a sustainable payment mechanism in national currencies as the energy supply is projected to further grow.
