โšก๏ธ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš–๏ธ Crypto Clarity Act flames out in failed U.S. Senate vote

The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act failed to survive the politics of the U.S. Senate on Tuesday as a 49-50 vote meant to start the bill toward passage fell far short in rounding up the 60 supporters required to advance.

Crypto executives said the vote does not unwind the regulatory progress already underway at the SEC and CFTC, nor is it likely to stop banks, asset managers and crypto firms from continuing to build.

The SEC recently proposed its first major crypto rule โ€” Regulation Crypto Assets, or Reg Crypto โ€” to clear a path for crypto projects to raise money and get off the ground without immediately drawing difficult regulatory requirements. And the agency is poised to start approving a narrow version of securities tokenization that could eventually remake how securities transactions are executed in the U.S. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

"There is still reason for optimism for crypto in the U.S. Now, the SEC, under Chair Atkins, and the CFTC, under Chair Selig, will continue to work hard to issue rules to fill the legislative gap and we will continue to be actively engaged in that rule making process.

Ripple's business has never been stronger โ€” real demand across traditional finance and the digital asset ecosystem. A missed vote in Washington doesn't change our momentum, our global footprint, or our customers," โ€” Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple CEO, said.

๐Ÿค– Scientists Just Teleported an Image Across 100 Quantum Channels at Once

Quantum teleportation is poised to change the world. It sounds like science fiction โ€“ that the quantum state of one system can be transferred, or 'teleported', to another system a great distance away at close to the speed of light.

It's real, and it has been proven โ€” at relatively small scales. A new breakthrough represents the next step on the quantum bandwidth journey: a team of physicists led by Jietai Jing of East China Normal University has achieved quantum teleportation across 100 simultaneous channels, demonstrated by successfully teleporting the quantum information encoded in a 100-pixel image.

"As far as we know, it is indeed the largest number of independently addressable quantum teleportation channels ever demonstrated simultaneously," โ€” Jing said.

This architecture could provide a flexible high-capacity interface for future quantum communication networks. ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿ“ฑ X launches U.S. Cashtag Program with brokerage partners

X announced the U.S. launch of the X Cashtag Partner Program, connecting financial conversations on X with the ability to trade through participating brokerages. At launch, X users can tap through Cashtags to brokerage partners, including Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken and Coinbase.

Cashtags turn ticker symbols for stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies into interactive destinations, giving X users real-time access to market conversation and financial information. Now, X Cashtag partners give users a seamless path from discovering a ticker and following the conversation on X to taking action with a brokerage.

When users tap a supported Cashtag, they can view the assetโ€™s price chart and related posts on X, then select โ€œTradeโ€ to continue to a participating brokerage, where they can log in or sign up and complete their trade.

โ€œWith our Cashtag partners, weโ€™re connecting the financial conversation to action. People come to X to discover whatโ€™s happening, shape the conversation, and act in real-time on what matters to them.

Our Cashtag partners make it possible to move seamlessly from discovery and conversation to a brokerage, without breaking the moment,โ€ โ€” Monique Pintarelli, Head of Global Advertising, SpaceXAI, said.

Starting today, users can tap crypto cashtags such as XRP on X and be redirected to Kraken to trade the asset. ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš–๏ธ Bernie Sanders says if AI is coming for workers, it should bring a four-day workweek with it

Last week, Sanders and California Rep. Mark Takano reintroduced the Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act, which would lower the standard workweek for nonexempt employees from 40 to 32 hours, thereby pushing employers to shorten schedules or pay overtime for the difference.

โ€œAt a time when AI and robotics will radically transform our economy, it is imperative that the financial gains from this new technology benefit working families, not just a handful of billionaires and corporate CEOs. One important way to do that is through a 32-hour workweek with no loss in pay or benefits,โ€ โ€” Senator Bernie Sanders said.

โ€œItโ€™s time to reduce the stress level in our country and allow workers and their families to enjoy a better quality of life. Itโ€™s time to pass this bill.โ€

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Boston drops Flock after outside agencies gained access to vehicle data

Days after Boston launched its Flock Safety pilot program in April 2025, the surveillance system shared vehicle data in violation of the Boston Police Departmentโ€™s contract.

๐Ÿ“ The report showed that Boston police received 77 requests from outside law enforcement agencies for access to Flock data during the pilot, while an internal audit found officers conducted 11,004 database searches and failed to include a case number tied to a criminal investigation about half the time.

โ€œWhen the toggles or the access controls ... either are not able to be restricted in the ways that conform with that policy, or are set โ€” but then can be unset, or reset, in ways that violate that policy, we would not use that platform,โ€ โ€” Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said.

๐Ÿš˜ For a driver born without arms, FSD Supervised is life-changing accessibility

FSD Supervised lets him navigate the road without conventional steering โ€“ commuting to his non-profit job & visiting his daughter over 500 miles away

โ€œI was born without arms and have driven with my feet my entire life. Iโ€™m a fully licensed driver, and traditionally I drove with my left foot on the steering wheel and my right foot handling the gas and brake. My only legal restrictions are automatic transmission and power steering.

Over the years, though, the strain from my congenital birth defects has led to significant arthritis in my hips. I drove a Model 3 for the past 7 years, and it honestly helped extend my independence in a huge way.

Recently upgrading to the Model Y โ€“ along with Full Self-Driving โ€“ has been a complete game changer for me. It dramatically reduces the physical pressure and fatigue of driving and has helped preserve a level of freedom and mobility that means a great deal to me.

Most people understandably think of Tesla in terms of innovation or sustainability, but for some of us, this technology truly becomes life-changing accessibility.โ€ โ€” John F.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Deutsche Bank close to debuting crypto custody for institutions

Deutsche Bankโ€™s (DB) digital asset custody service is set to go live by the end of the year. Germanyโ€™s largest bank said the service, subject to the completion of applicable regulatory checks, will give European institutional and corporate clients regulated custody of digital assets.

โ—๏ธThe service will support a select range of cryptocurrencies at debut, including BTC and ETH and stablecoins like USDC and EURC.

โ€œDigital assets are not a replacement for the traditional financial system but an important complement to it,โ€ โ€” Deutscheโ€™s co-head of corporate bank, Gerald Podobnik, said.

โ€œWe see them as new rails that coexist with existing marketing infrastructures. The service will be developed in line with client demand, regulatory requirements and the bankโ€™s risk appetite,โ€ โ€” Podobnik added.

โšก๏ธ๐Ÿง  Part-human part-mouse brain developed in science breakthrough

Researchers have created mice with half-human brains in an effort to understand and develop new treatments for disorders such as schizophrenia, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability and rare forms of dementia.

The scientists transplanted lab-grown human brain cells into animals that were engineered to be born without a cortex or hippocampus. This made space for the human tissue to grow inside the rodentsโ€™ skulls.

The procedure means scientists can now take cells from patients with brain disorders, turn them into brain tissue in the laboratory, and grow that tissue in living animals. The animals can then be studied to see how the disorder takes hold in human brain tissue, and how drugs might treat the conditions.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Arc Mainnet Is Live: The Economic OS for the Internet

Arc launches as the Economic OS for the internet: an open platform for global markets, real-time value movement, tokenized assets, and agentic economic activity.

๐Ÿ”œ It launches as a full-stack financial platform with assets, applications, interoperability, developer infrastructure, and Circle platform services live from day one.

๐Ÿ”œ Arc delivers USDC as native gas, deterministic sub-second finality, EVM compatibility, and institutional validators. It integrates with Arc Studio, App Kits, Arc Portal, Circle Agent Stack, CCTP, Gateway, CPN, and StableFX.

๐Ÿš€ Arc launches with infrastructure for:

โ†’ Agentic economic workflows
โ†’ Lending and borrowing
โ†’ Trading and liquidity
โ†’ Onchain FX
โ†’ Payments and settlement
โ†’ Tokenized assets
โ†’ Exchanges, wallets, custody, compliance, data, and developer tooling

โ—๏ธ BlackRock, DTCC, Intercontinental Exchange, Mastercard, Standard Chartered and Visa are among Arcโ€™s founding validators, while BNY, HSBC and State Street are some of the 100+ institutions and ecosystem companies live on or exploring the network.

โ€œThis is, I believe, the most consequential major platform launch in our history, and I think an even more consequential launch than USDC itself,โ€ โ€” said Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire.

Separately, Circle and DTCC plan to enable tokenization of DTC-custodied assets on Arc beginning in the second half of 2027.

โšก๏ธ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš–๏ธ U.S. House's tax committee advances crypto tax bill in wake of Clarity Act loss

At a Wednesday hearing known as a markup, the panel voted 38-5 to endorse the Digital Asset Tax Certainty Act and forward it to the rest of the House, signalling massive bipartisan support for the measure.

๐Ÿ”˜Among the provisions is a de minimis exception for certain fees paid in crypto. Someone paying a qualifying network or transaction fee in crypto would not have to record a gain or loss if the fee is $10 or less.

๐Ÿ”˜The bill also addresses small deviations from the $1 peg for qualifying U.S. dollar stablecoins, generally treating their redemption value as the tax basis if acquired close enough to that value.

๐Ÿ”˜Taxpayers could also opt for simplified annual accounting for widely traded digital assets. Both the fee provision and accounting change would start in 2028.

The legislation also addresses how crypto income would be recognized for tax purposes, transfers, wash sale rules, mining, staking and requirements for brokers, and it generally seeks to ensure that digital assets get similar treatment as other assets.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿค– Chinese scientists build worldโ€™s smallest CT scanner, weighing just 6kg

Chinese researchers have developed the worldโ€™s smallest CT scanner. Built by the Shandong province-based Rayim, the Xtomo-Cube is about the size of a desktop speaker and weighs just 6kg (13.2lbs).

CT uses X-rays from multiple angles to create detailed 3D images of internal structures. It is widely used in hospitals to detect tumours and injuries, and in archaeology and industry to examine objects without damaging them. Despite their expanding uses, CT scanners have remained big, heavy machines.

The challenge was fitting the X-ray source, detector and rotating platform into a four-litre package while maintaining image quality. Its small size and relatively low-energy X-rays could also make it useful in university classrooms and research labs.
