🇨🇳🛰 China puts AI compute into orbit with Supercomputing-1 satellite

China has launched 9 satellites — including its first integrated “rocket and satellite” AI computing project — as part of its push to put AI computing in orbit. The Kinetica 1 Y18 rocket, operated by Chinese commercial launch provider CAS Space, lifted off on September 20, carrying the nine satellites to their planned orbits.

The payload of greatest interest is the “Supercomputing-1” satellite. Also known as the S-AIDC-1, the satellite is designed to capture and process Earth-observation data in orbit instead of sending data back to terrestrial data centers. Keeping the processing local is meant to cut cross-regional data processing times from hours to minutes. The satellite features both a high-res optical payload and the image-processing AI computer.

⚡️🤑 CSD BR and Ripple Use the XRP Ledger Blockchain to Expand Brazil's Financial Market Infrastructure

CSD BR, a financial market infrastructure authorized to operate as a registrar, central securities depository and settlement system, today announced the first phase of a strategic partnership with Ripple.

The initiative marks a new step in the evolution of asset tokenization in Brazil, combining the robustness of CSD BR's regulated infrastructure with the decentralized blockchain technology of the XRP Ledger (XRPL). 🇧🇷

❗️In this first phase, CSD BR will begin using the XRP Ledger as an additional layer for recording and auditing financial assets, starting with BTG Pactual investment fund shares.

🔜 For the first time, a central securities depository for financial assets and securities will use a public blockchain to mirror securities ownership records, while CSD BR's systems remain the official source of record for registration, deposit and settlement of the assets.

With more than BRL 22 trillion in registered assets, CSD BR operates a highly scalable infrastructure capable of processing millions of transactions in a matter of minutes. The partnership will make it possible to assess, in a regulated environment and with live transactions, the gains in transparency, traceability, automation and efficiency delivered by blockchain technology. 💸

The model was developed within the current regulatory framework, without changing participants' legal responsibilities or requiring new regulatory approvals.

This is the first time the XRP Ledger is publicly being integrated into core financial market infrastructure of this scale. 🚀

🇨🇳 Chinese team creates ‘lifelike’ hydrogel that changes shape for smart devices

Chinese researchers have developed a “lifelike” shape-changing hydrogel they say could provide a platform for next-generation developments, such as flexible tissue engineering scaffolds, brain-computer interfaces and humanlike robots.

Inspired by living organisms, the team created a light-triggered system called STERS, which uses liquid metal particles to generate slow, self-sustaining chemical reactions that allow a hydrogel to change its structure over time.

Capable of growing and changing alongside living tissues, this adaptive system could inspire next-generation biomedical materials and devices. It could also have broad implications in fields such as regenerative medicine and soft robotics, according to the researchers.

🇨🇳 China pushes to establish a "National Blockchain Network"

A document issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on October 9, 2026, explicitly integrates blockchain into China’s strategy for developing “new quality productive forces.”

Clause (ix) calls for the creation of a national integrated computing network and a national blockchain network. This is not just rhetoric — it is a concrete task outlined in the section on the deep integration of the real and digital economies.

The national blockchain network is mentioned alongside the “Eastern Data, Western Computing” initiative, smart manufacturing, and the industrial internet — positioning it as part of China’s core infrastructure for data and computing.

The document also calls for the establishment of a unified national data market, requiring an open, shared, and secure nationwide marketplace for data. It separately highlights the need for convenient and secure mechanisms for cross-border data exchange.

🇨🇳 China breakthrough projected to put sustainable aviation fuel gross profit margin past 50%

Chinese researchers have developed a catalyst that converts synthesis gas into sustainable jet fuel — an advance that could boost production, help meet net-zero carbon goals and yield a gross profit margin above 50%.

The team verified the efficacy of the chemical catalyst in a thousand-tonne pilot test and found that combining woody biomass-derived synthesis gas, or syngas, with the cobalt-manganese catalyst enabled the “highly efficient synthesis of jet fuel”.

Based on a techno-economic analysis that modelled a planned 100,000-tonnes-per-year jet fuel plant, the researchers estimated they could achieve a gross profit margin of over 50%.

“The excellent pilot test results and the positive techno-economic and life-cycle assessments underscore its strong potential for industrial deployment,” — the team said in a paper published in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Communications.

🇨🇳China’s CXMT unveils ‘key progress’ on chip structure pursued by Samsung, SK Hynix

Chinese memory chip giant ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has reported “key progress” on a new cell architecture to boost memory density, an innovation that competitors such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are also working on.

CXMT planned to roll out a new server-memory product based on the structure by the end of 2026, president Cao Kanyu said at an industrial event in Shanghai over the weekend.

At the centre of the development is the “4F square” design, in which each memory cell occupies an area of four square F, with F representing the minimum line width of a semiconductor. The structure enables higher storage density by fitting more cells onto a single chip.
