Microsoft is offering buyouts to a wide swath of employees as it strives to balance a costly AI infrastructure build-out with capital efficiency. The software maker announced a new voluntary exit offer for certain workers in the U.S., Canada, India and the United Kingdom at its experience level of 70 or below.
Around 60,000 people are eligible. The effort affects about 27% of Microsoft’s total workforce of 223,000 people.

The Canadian government started a 60-day public consultation on draft stablecoin regulations, which maintain a ban on yield payments and require non-bank issuers to deposit their reserves with Canadian financial institutions.
The draft regulations are “required to bring the SCA into force and would prescribe the elements needed for issuers to register with the Bank of Canada,” the government said.
Some crypto exchanges in Canada, however, are already paying rewards to stablecoin holders.
The stablecoin framework is expected to come into effect toward the end of 2027.

Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, hit store shelves on Friday. But some customers who were lucky enough to get the $1,999-and-up phone on its first weekend have been reporting a pretty big problem: the inner screen of the phone can break, showing horizontal bright lines emanating from the phone’s hinge.
Apple on Monday said it was aware of the issue, which it said affected a “small number” of phones, and that it would replace the devices under its AppleCare warranty.
“We are aware of an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units,” — an Apple representative said.
“If users experience issues with their iPhone Duo display, they should contact AppleCare for a replacement.”

Silicon spin qubits could play a major role in the future of quantum computing because they can be produced using the same semiconductor manufacturing methods that make today's computer chips. However, researchers have faced a significant challenge.
When multiple silicon qubits are controlled at the same time, their operations tend to become less accurate. Building practical, large quantum computers will require scientists to control many qubits simultaneously while keeping errors to a minimum.
Their experiments used an array of five qubits connected to a shared microwave control line. By identifying a major cause of errors during simultaneous operation, the scientists developed a technique to reduce those errors and maintain precision.
"This shows that high-fidelity control can be maintained even when several qubits are operated at the same time and represents an important step toward scaling up silicon-based quantum processors," — Leon Camenzind, a RIKEN research scientist, said.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced that Ripple has been granted final approval for chartering Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB), a federally supervised national trust bank.
“For years, we’ve said crypto and banks work better together. Final approval for Ripple National Trust Bank is what that looks like in practice,” — said Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple.
“We’ve spent over a decade building regulated financial infrastructure that institutions can actually use at scale. A national trust charter gives us an even stronger foundation for RLUSD and the institutional products we’re building across payments, custody and capital markets.”
Ripple will continue to work closely with the OCC, NYDFS, and other regulators as RNTB begins operations and as the U.S. implements the regulatory framework established by the GENIUS Act.

A US federal judge on Monday granted Alibaba Group Holding's request for a preliminary injunction, ordering the US government not to deny Pentagon contracts to companies because they, their parent companies or subsidiaries do business with firms that engage in lobbying activities for the e-commerce giant.
Alibaba sued the US government in June after the Pentagon added it to a list of companies allegedly aiding China's military, alongside internet search provider Baidu, EV maker BYD and other major Chinese manufacturing and technology firms.
Monday's ruling means Alibaba will be able to retain US lobbyists who also represent Pentagon contractors.

Janus Henderson is launching the first-ever licensed tokenized fund tracking the Nasdaq-100 Index, marking Wall Street’s latest push to bring traditional assets onto the digital ledger that underpins cryptocurrencies.
Janus will manage the new fund, which will trade under the ticker “JQQQ” and run on technology provided by the tokenization firm Centrifuge. It is initially available to eligible non-U.S. professional investors on the Stellar network, a blockchain focused on tokenized assets. The fund has a minimum investment of $100,000.
“Bringing the Nasdaq-100 onchain with Janus Henderson and Centrifuge shows how far tokenization has come, from cash-equivalent assets to the benchmarks that define global equity markets,” — said Denelle Dixon, CEO & Executive Director of the Stellar Development Foundation.
“Stellar was purpose-built for regulated finance, and we expect many more products like this to follow.”🚀

Defense tech startup Anduril Industries Inc. has joined forces with chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. to produce laptops that are designed and assembled in the US, an attempt to rebuild a manufacturing process that has largely moved overseas.
The companies unveiled a new product line on Tuesday called BlueChip intended to supply “America’s most critical industries — including government, defense, first responders and public safety,” according to a statement.
The eventual goal is to establish an “end-to-end American supply chain” for the laptops and, more broadly, to rebuild US computer manufacturing, the companies said.

State Street is one of the world’s largest custodial banks. It manages trillions in assets. And it is quietly building a tokenization infrastructure that runs across three distinct blockchain networks. Notably, Stellar, Ripple and Hedera are in the picture.
Securrency is a tokenization platform headquartered in Washington, D.C. It raised $49.4 million in funding and operates across Ethereum, Stellar, Ripple, Gochain, and EOS. State Street is listed as one of its notable partners in the BCG analysis.
That partnership is significant. Securrency’s blockchain stack includes both the XRP Ledger and the Stellar network. Notably, Securrency has previously been highlighted as a potential path for XRP into the DTCC. State Street’s relationship with the platform connects the bank directly to both assets’ underlying infrastructure.
