๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ India's richest state is exploring tokenizing its own assets to fund new infrastructure

The Indian state of Maharashtra is developing a policy to bring its own assets onto blockchain, including a potential tokenization of electricity transmission infrastructure, with proceeds used to fund new power lines and energy storage.

Today, the transmission lines earn steady fee income from carrying power across the grid, but the capital tied up in building them stays locked in place and canโ€™t easily be freed up for new projects. He linked this to a problem Maharashtra faces today: the state generates a large surplus of solar power, but lacks the grid capacity to move it to where and when itโ€™s needed.

Pardeshi said the state could potentially solve this by tokenizing a portion of its transmission assets, allowing investors to receive a share of the income they generate while providing the state with fresh capital for new infrastructure.

โ€œThe transmission lines can themselves be tokenized โ€” not fully, but even 40%, 50% of that,โ€ Pardeshi said.

โ€œPeople who hold that token can get part of the income which Maharashtra Transco Company is getting... the new money that it generates from the people who buy the token can help us to build more transmission lines, to build more solar energy storage centers.โ€

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท UAE, Iran Leaders Meet as Push to Resolve Hormuz Standoff Grows

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed Al Nahyan met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as the Islamic Republic touts a potential deal to allow more ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has said it will brief Gulf states on Monday on a new agreement, though says any deal won't amount to a full reopening of the strait and that it will have a say on which ships can traverse it.

The rare public discussions between the two powers occurred on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in India and came as Oman seeks to bring the Gulf Cooperation Council and Iran together to discuss the waterway, a global chokepoint for energy exports.

๐Ÿค– Anthropic CEO calls for AI race to slow down citing safety. Musk and OpenAI's Altman agrees

In an essay titled โ€œWe Must Pace the Frontierโ€, Dario Amodei, CEO of Claudeโ€™s developer, Anthropic, called for companies to deliberately pace advances in frontier AI, arguing that model capabilities were improving faster than researchersโ€™ ability to understand and control them.

โ€œWe must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models,โ€ โ€” Amodei wrote.

โ—๏ธHowever, he didnโ€™t call for an outright halt, arguing for slowing down the pace of the development.

โ€œNot building the technology deprives humanity of benefits or simply places AI in the hands of authoritarian powers, while building it too fast is reckless.โ€

Two other prominent leaders of rival giant AI and tech companies quickly backed the idea:

๐Ÿ”œ OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, said, โ€œI agree with Dario that we need to pace the frontier,โ€ to give society time to adapt to increasingly powerful systems.

๐Ÿ”œ Elon Musk, whose firm xAI has developed Grok, also publicly backed Amodeiโ€™s latest proposal, responding that โ€œDario is right.โ€

Three of AIโ€™s most prominent rivals now share the view that frontier AI should keep advancing, but not necessarily as fast as technically possible.

โšก๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Donald Trump rejects calls from tech bosses for an AI slowdown

President Donald Trump downplayed the growing alarm over risks from AI after some of the industry's leaders called for slowing the development pace of the technology.

"We're leading China in AI. We're the most sophisticated country in the world, and frankly, I want to keep it that way because whoever wins AI wins," โ€” Trump said.

"And we can put guardrails. We can do this and that. But I think you have a lot of negative forces that are bringing it up that shouldn't be bringing it up."

๐Ÿ’Š Scientists discover a hidden switch that shuts down inflammation

Inflammation is one of the immune system's most important defense responses. It helps the body fight infection and repair damaged tissue. But if that response remains active for too long, it can begin to harm healthy tissue and contribute to conditions including arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes.

Researchers at University College London (UCL) have identified a biological mechanism that helps the body bring inflammation to an end, a finding that could eventually lead to new treatments for chronic inflammatory diseases affecting millions of people.

The new study, published in Nature Communications, points to a group of small fat-derived molecules called epoxy-oxylipins as part of that shutdown process. These molecules act like natural brakes on the immune system.

"This is the first study to map epoxy-oxylipin activity in humans during inflammation. By boosting these protective fat molecules, we could design safer treatments for diseases driven by chronic inflammation," โ€” corresponding author Professor Derek Gilroy (UCL Division of Medicine) said.

๐Ÿ’ธ BRICS Countries Explore CBDC Links to Accelerate Cross-Border Payments

BRICS countries are exploring the possibility of connecting CBDCs and national payment systems to strengthen cross-border payments and settlements among member economies

โฌ‡๏ธCBDC Connectivity Could Reduce Cross-Border Payment Costs

๐Ÿ”˜The discussions focus on making CBDC systems interoperable across member countries, potentially allowing selected commercial and financial transactions to be processed and settled digitally across borders.

๐Ÿ”˜Greater connectivity could reduce the number of intermediaries involved in international transactions, helping lower payment costs and shorten settlement times.

๐Ÿ”˜BRICS members are also examining stronger links between instant payment systems to support faster digital transfers for individuals and businesses.

โ—๏ธExisting Payment Networks Could Support Integration:

๐Ÿ”œ Indiaโ€™s UPI and Brazilโ€™s Pix are among the most prominent examples, alongside instant payment infrastructure operated by other member countries.

๐Ÿ”œ Indiaโ€™s experience linking UPI with Singaporeโ€™s PayNow also provides a practical example of connecting domestic payment systems internationally

BRICS is exploring interoperable cross-border payments, including potential CBDC connectivity. The technical and regulatory frameworks are still under development. ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿค– MITโ€™s Math Breakthrough Could Make Blockchains Quantum-Proof

Hereโ€™s the key insight: you donโ€™t need to encrypt all the data to make it quantum safe. Decrypting everything is computationally hard and very expensive.

โ—๏ธRandom Linear Network Coding (RLNC), a coding method developed over two decades in MIT lab โ€œNetwork Coding and Reliable Communications Groupโ€ offers a proven alternative. RLNC takes data and splits it into coded equations, which can then be mixed and recombined as they travel through the network.

โฌ‡๏ธ Traditional PQC is costly because it requires encrypting and decrypting all the data. With PQC encryption via RLNC you only need to encrypt a fraction โ€” one out of ten coded equations โ€” and the entire dataset inherits its quantum-safe protection.

๐Ÿ”˜With RLNC, encrypting 10% of the data effectively protects 100% of the dataset, while cutting 90% of the computational burden. Itโ€™s all based on pure math. Because RLNC consists of encoding and decoding data into packets, it can be embedded at any level of the Web3 stack, enabling quantum-safe, scalable performance of decentralized systems.

๐Ÿ”˜At the application level, the math is applied at the software layer and managed locally, representing the fastest pace to adoption. At the infrastructure level, MIT lab has done a synthesis of RLNC in hardware chips at MIT, showing that this can scale down to silicon and into the core of blockchain nodes, ensuring long-term systemic resilience with minimal cost.

Ultimately, RLNC can also be leveraged as a โ€œquantum-safe memory layerโ€ for blockchains. A way to ensure that data propagation, storage, and writing to the chain inherits quantum security without every transaction being painfully encrypted end-to-end.

๐Ÿš˜ China Is Ditching Touchscreens For Essential Controls In New Cars

China's MIIT has drafted new rules that would bring back physical controls for essential functions on new cars. The law is expected to go into effect on July 1, 2027, and it would require new vehicles to have certain physical controls, triggers, and switches with specific size and feedback requirements for each button.

This does not mean touchscreens are going away on newer model cars, but it does impact controls that were previously integrated into the touchscreen display, including turn signals, lighting, shifting gears, windshield wipers, and window defrosters. The touchscreen will remain in place for other functions and cool dashboard gadgets.

๐Ÿค– Scientists just made quantum computer operations 1,000 times faster

Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden have now developed a method that can perform a broad range of advanced quantum operations more than a thousand times faster. The advance tackles a major obstacle in the field and could help move quantum computing closer to becoming fault-tolerant.

Researchers are exploring bosonic quantum codes to make quantum computers more resilient to errors. Instead of assigning quantum information to individual qubits, this approach stores it in microwave fields inside superconducting circuits.

"Our method shows that a diverse range of quantum operations on bosonic states can be completed within a single driving cycle, rather than the several thousand cycles that have been required previously.

This makes the operations both faster and more efficient, while reducing the risk that disturbances will corrupt the information before the process is finished.

It represents an important step towards fault-tolerant quantum computers," โ€” says Lei Du, researcher in Applied Quantum Physics at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿง‘โ€โš–๏ธ Senate Republicans release 'final' Clarity Act draft as Trump accepts most ethics provisions

Sens. Cynthia Lummis, John Boozman, and Tim Scott released the final draft of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (H.R. 3633) ahead of a scheduled cloture vote on Tuesday. If cloture is invoked, the new text would be offered as the substitute amendment.

๐ŸŸ The final text includes new ethics language which reflects substantially all of the Tillis-Gallego ethics proposal, including a meaningful role for state attorneys general in enforcement.

"President Trump voluntarily agreed to unprecedented ethics restrictions, holding every federally elected official, judge, and their spouses to some of the toughest ethics restrictions in U.S. history," โ€” Lummis said in a statement. "Democrats got what they wanted; now they need to take yes for an answer."

๐ŸŸ The bill text shows that the ethics requirements will cover a public official or employee; those elected to the office of President, Vice President, or member of Congress; and their spouses. However, the bill does not state limits on other family members, such as an official's children.

โฌ‡๏ธ Stablecoin circuit breaker

๐Ÿ”˜The draft would also give the Treasury secretary authority to impose a circuit-breaker on stablecoin rewards to limit deposit outflows from community banks if payment stablecoins trigger substantial withdrawals, which would last 18 months after enactment.

๐Ÿ”˜In an unresolved dispute against crypto players, banks have been arguing for further tightening on stablecoin yield language. While the bill limits platforms from paying interest on idle stablecoin holdings, rewards on stablecoin usage are still allowed. The circuit-breaker is meant as an apparent "emergency brake" for banks fearing existential deposit flight from community banks.

โ—๏ธThe draft also includes edits to the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA) to shield developers from money transmission registration requirements and establish a strong civil safe harbor.
