President Donald Trump said US government documents would use "super intelligence" going forward instead of artificial intelligence, and repeated his previous calls about AI warnings being a hoax.
"From this point forward, all of United States documents, and hopefully the world's will be changed to use the much more accurate term 'super' as opposed to artificial. So it's super intelligence," — Trump said in a UN General Assembly speech.

BVNK today announced the integration of the Stellar blockchain into its stablecoin payments platform, giving businesses access to another high-speed, low-cost payment rail through BVNK’s single platform and API.
“The future of global payments is multi-chain and multi-asset, but businesses shouldn't have to manage the underlying engineering burden of connecting to dozens of individual blockchains.
“By integrating Stellar’s established payment network, we are giving our customers another efficient, low-cost route to move money globally through a single platform and API. Businesses can choose the networks and assets that best fit their needs, without having to build and maintain the infrastructure to connect to each one themselves,” — Kim Mescal Julien, Head of Partnerships at BVNK, said.
The Stellar integration is live today for all BVNK enterprise customers across 130+ supported countries.

ACI Worldwide, an original innovator in global payments technology, announced it is bringing intelligent routing for Swift ledger transactions to ACI Connetic, its cloud-native payments hub.
The infrastructure is arriving quickly, but many institutions have yet to fit these payments into day-to-day operations. ACI Connetic will bring Swift ledger transactions into the same payments environment banks already use to route, monitor, control and reconcile payments at scale.

Six of Canada's largest banks are exploring a Canadian-dollar tokenized deposit system designed to move money faster between financial institutions and eventually connect with other digital asset initiatives.
Bank of Montreal, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, National Bank of Canada, Royal Bank of Canada, Scotiabank and TD Bank Group form the joint venture, whose first phase focuses on moving tokenized deposits across participating banks. The joint statement said more banks could join the project later.
“The first phase of the project aims to move tokenized deposits efficiently across Canadian financial institutions with a longer-term goal to connect with other emerging digital assets initiatives,” — they said.
The banks said the project aims to offer faster, more efficient and programmable payments to Canadian customers while preserving financial stability and regulatory oversight.

Mitochondria have spent billions of years solving one of biology’s hardest problems: turning energy stored in food into a form cells can readily use. A new preprint proposes that part of their remarkable performance might involve a quantum interaction hidden inside their folded membranes.
Researchers detected an unusual infrared signal at 71 terahertz in living human cells, several mouse tissues and isolated mitochondria. The signal disappeared after biological samples were dried and ground, suggesting that it depended on organized mitochondrial structure rather than a single isolated molecule.
The team then developed a model in which infrared light couples with collective molecular vibrations inside mitochondrial membranes, producing a hybrid light-matter state called a polariton. When cultured cells were exposed to selected infrared frequencies, ATP production increased by about 10%.
The study was posted on bioRxiv on Sept. 15, 2026.

Selig told the US Treasury Market Conference that "the next decade will likely bring more change to financial markets than the previous several decades combined."
The CFTC expanded eligible collateral to include stablecoins in February and is looking to drive further adoption across exchanges and clearinghouses.
"The U.S. is the financial markets capital of the world. We have innovative firms, world-class exchanges, strong market participants, and now, regulators committed to promoting market integrity while supporting responsible innovation," — Selig said.
Those advantages will help ensure the US continues to lead on the new frontier of finance.

Several European countries were among a group of 22 nations that adopted a declaration Monday saying that AI “must remain under human direction, oversight and control” and suggesting to create a global supervisory regime.
The declaration, adopted on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly this week, acknowledged AI’s “potential to improve lives, advance science and strengthen our economies” but warned that “the rapid development of frontier AI models poses serious risks to safety and security if not appropriately managed.”
Neither the U.S. nor China are part of the new declaration.

With equipment that fits into a single rocket launch, Martian dirt, water, and air can be transformed into enough building materials to construct a small city.
The breakthrough: the first microbe designed for Mars. Pioneer Labs identified a highly capable microbe on Earth and used evolution to teach it to source all the nutrients it needs directly from Martian materials.
One day, the first astronauts could arrive to find safe shelters already stocked with water, oxygen, and rocket fuel for the journey home. This marks a first step toward using biology to make Mars more habitable — living off the land while building the next great frontier.
And it’s only the first of five organisms needed to green Mars.

“I think everyone would like to have a future where they can have their own personal robots. And then I think you'll see many companies where it's one person with hundreds, maybe thousands of robots. Like physical robots as well as digital robots.
So the productivity of one person will be greatly amplified. And my prediction is that there will be effectively universal high income. In fact, it's not clear to me that money will even matter in the future,” — Musk said.

The digital ruble became a full-fledged payment instrument following its mass rollout on September 1, 2026, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin. 36 Russian banks are now connected to the digital ruble platform, with nearly 200,000 accounts already opened by citizens.
“The launch of the digital ruble went according to plan. This is an event we have prepared for very carefully. Citizens and businesses now have a new additional tool for making payments and settlements. In essence, our country now has all the components of a national payment infrastructure,” — said Bank of Russia Governor Elvira Nabiullina.

An XRP Ledger account could soon let another account make payments or approve customers on its behalf without handing over the keys that control everything else.
The upgrade could make the XRP Ledger more appealing as decentralized layer 1 infrastructure for institutional payments by allowing stablecoin issuers, custodians and other businesses to separate routine operations from the keys that secure their accounts.
That would let compliance and payment systems perform narrowly defined tasks without giving them broad authority over an issuer’s assets.

China has launched 9 satellites — including its first integrated “rocket and satellite” AI computing project — as part of its push to put AI computing in orbit. The Kinetica 1 Y18 rocket, operated by Chinese commercial launch provider CAS Space, lifted off on September 20, carrying the nine satellites to their planned orbits.
The payload of greatest interest is the “Supercomputing-1” satellite. Also known as the S-AIDC-1, the satellite is designed to capture and process Earth-observation data in orbit instead of sending data back to terrestrial data centers. Keeping the processing local is meant to cut cross-regional data processing times from hours to minutes. The satellite features both a high-res optical payload and the image-processing AI computer.

“Biological enhancement with Neuralink. We want to try to solve the bandwidth constraint that humans have. Even in the most benign scenario where the AI is super friendly and wants to do everything it wants to make you happy, our rate of communication is too slow.
So, the peak human bandwidth is only about 100 bits per second, roughly. Our input bandwidth is much higher because of vision, you know, a megabit per second or a few megabits per second from our eyes, which are affected by cameras. But our output bandwidth is really low.
Computers are communicating at a trillion bits per second. Anything we can do to increase the communication speed of humans will improve, I think, the alignment of humans and machines, because otherwise to an AI that is communicating at a terabit a second, talking to a human will be like talking to a tree.”
