Russia said Gazprom PJSC and China National Petroleum Corp. may reach a commercial agreement by year-end on gas supplies via the Power of Baikal link, a route which has the potential to reshape global energy flows.
โWe are waiting for our companies to hold commercial talks,โ โ Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said.
โWe hope that by year-end they will reach the necessary agreements,โ โ he said, referring to deliveries via the future route formerly known as Power of Siberia 2.

German biotechnology company Immatics is developing an experimental cell therapy targeting PRAME, a protein expressed in more than 50 cancer types. The treatment modifies a patientโs own T cells to recognize and attack cancer cells carrying this target, potentially opening new treatment options for tumors that have been difficult to treat with existing immunotherapies.
In an early-phase clinical trial involving 16 patients with uveal melanoma, a rare form of eye cancer, all patients experienced tumor shrinkage following treatment. These preliminary results suggest that PRAME-targeted therapy could have potential beyond melanoma, including in ovarian and pancreatic cancers.
Immatics is now working to advance its lead candidate toward regulatory approval and expand the approach to additional solid tumors. The therapy remains investigational, and further clinical trials are needed to confirm its safety and efficacy.

The U.S. National Security Agencyโs sent out an alarming warning that two critical holes had been found in PHP, with patches already issued by the PHP Foundation.
PHP is a server-side programming language so widely used for web applications that it powers roughly 70% of the websites on the internet; by some accounts, thatโs more than 33 million sites. It is also used by popular content management systems like WordPress.
The NSA warned that these holes are so severe that if a website canโt be patched immediately, it should be pulled off the web until it can be. The holes allow attackers to infiltrate the serverโs file system or a database that may be used by the web app.
Interestingly, these holes have been tucked away in all versions of PHP since version 5, which was released in 2004. Websites not running relatively current versions of PHP will have some updating work to do, as PHP 8.1 and older versions are no longer supported. The recommendation is to update the web server to the current version of PHP, which is 8.5.12.

President Donald Trump said his administration has made a "very big dent" in scams by foreign criminal networks that lure Americans โinto fraudulent investments. FBI Director Kash Patel said his agency had taken down 20 scam compounds throughout the world.
"Federal law enforcement has been able to warn โover 10,000 Americans targeted for victimization, and we've prevented $1.6 billion in losses โ at least โ this year," โTrump said.
"We will work tirelessly to help recover what has been stolen and dismantle the criminal networks that prey on our people."

Stellar is stepping up its quantum-readiness efforts, and the latest Bell upgrade could mark another important milestone in the networkโs long-term security strategy.
As concerns grow over the potential threat quantum computing poses to blockchain technology, Stellarโs push to prepare for the next generation of computing could strengthen its appeal as a forward-looking blockchain ecosystem.
In June 2026, Stellar introduced its Quantum Preparedness Plan (QPP), outlining its strategy to transition the network toward quantum-safe cryptography. The initiative reflects Stellarโs efforts to address potential future threats from quantum computing while strengthening the networkโs long-term security and resilience.

New Mexico sued Meta in 2021 over a scandal involving the political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica, saying the social media company had misled users with its public statements about their data privacy.
Last month, after a two-week trial, a jury in the State District Court in Santa Fe ruled against Meta, saying the company had committed 43 million violations of New Mexicoโs consumer protection laws. Each violation carried a penalty of up to $5,000.
Judge Francis J. Mathew of the Santa Fe court issued the landmark penalty, writing that the company and its executives purposefully misled the public.
โThe harm in this matter is difficult to overstate, and goes to the heart of Facebookโs basic business proposition,โ โ Judge Mathew wrote in a 20-page judgment.
He said the โextraordinary number of willful violationsโ that repeated over years โsupport the highest level of penalty.โ

Musk predicted that advances in robotics and space travel will create a multiplanetary economy, at which point "money becomes irrelevant" and "conventional currency will not matter."
โI think currency will be measured in fundamental physics metrics like, you know, power, like wattage and tonnage, mass and energy.โ
โThere won't be anything that humans can do that the AI and the robots can't do better. People will likely turn to hobbies like growing their own fruits and vegetables, or making art, to find purpose in life,โ โ he said.

Arf is bringing RLUSD-powered settlement liquidity to licensed cross-border payment companies on the XRP Ledger. Arf helped pioneer PayFi and has scaled to around $10 billion annually in global settlement volumes. As XRPL's native lending infrastructure comes online, it will become part of that settlement liquidity.
โPayment companies need capital to keep money moving while they wait for funds to settle. Weโre meeting that need at scale, with $10 billion in annual settlement volume and capital turning over four times a month.
Through this partnership with Ripple, weโre bringing stablecoin working capital to the XRP Ledger to help payment companies bridge that gap and support more payment volume,โโ Ali Erhat Nalbant, Co-founder and CEO at Arf, said.
Arf has already built against the proposed protocol, providing a concrete implementation of how the Lending Protocol can support institutional settlement financing.

More than 1000 mathematicians have pledged not to work for AI companies and to avoid using their models โ to varying extents โ in their research. The move comes amid a growing backlash against the way AI companies have used their models to solve thorny mathematical problems, many of which had stumped humans for decades.
The Association of Human Mathematicians (AHM) was created in the wake of controversial discoveries from AI companies, such as the release of 722 papers in one fell swoop by OpenAI earlier this month. Membership now stretches to more than 1000 people, including professors and PhD students.

Chinese scientists have developed a 100-channel single-photon detector, a breakthrough promising to pave the way for broadband quantum networks.
State-of-the-art single-photon detectors โ essential components underpinning photonic quantum technologies โ could previously support a maximum of 32 detection channels for photon signals.
Now, a newly developed interconnect scheme by a Shanghai-based team has broken this bottleneck, supporting more than 100 detection channels while maintaining accurate and stable operation.
โThis work establishes a robust and scalable infrastructure, paving the way for large-scale quantum photonic applications,โ โ the authors said.

As data centers expand, Representative Eugene Vindman wants the companies behind them to pay the added costs of supplying their electricity โ rather than passing those expenses to other utility customers.
The Democrat representing Virginiaโs 7th District introduced the Make Data Centers Pay Act, which would amend federal law to prevent qualifying data centersโ power and infrastructure costs from being shifted onto households and small businesses.
"Hardworking Americans should not have to pay higher electricity bills to subsidize some of the largest and most energy-intensive data centers in the world,"โ Vindman said.
