Sheikh Hussein Ansarian said:
While I was studying at the Qom Seminary, I often saw Allameh Tabataba'i attending his classes or visiting the holy shrine. One day, I noticed someone approaching him on the sidewalk and asking him questions. Curious, I stopped to listen to their conversation.
One of the questions asked was, "Sir, could you tell us how you achieved this esteemed position so that we, too, may follow your path if we have the opportunity and blessing?"
Without regard for the location or the people around him, Allameh Tabataba'i, with great humility and simplicity, responded right there on the street:
"There have been many paths, but among them, the two most significant for me, which I value and hold dear, and which I am confident are the best and most evident, are:
1. Sincere and consistent nightly prayers.
2. Weeping for Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)."
