Less than two months before the martyrdom of Haj Qassem,an Israeli newspaper, citing a source close to the White House (read: Jews influential in the White House), wrote that a "reasonable opportunity" existed for a US strike on Iran before the November elections, as presidents in crisis seek to divert public attention. This article cryptically foretold the crime.

Another Israeli site explicitly stated that from the viewpoint of Israeli officials, Soleimani was "the head of the snake," and admitted to previous Israeli assassination attempts against him.

Following the martyrdom, Israeli media tried to downplay their role out of fear of retaliation, while simultaneously hinting at their satisfaction and viewing it as an opportunity to increase pressure on Iran's regional presence.
