📰 New Details on Washington’s $600 Million Digital War Against Iranians – What’s America Planning?
🟡 Kit Klarenberg, in a report titled "The Hidden Crusade Against Iran" on The Cradle, revealed that for over a decade, the U.S. State Department has secretly allocated hundreds of millions of dollars to regime change efforts in Iran. Under the guise of "promoting democracy," these operations included digital warfare and funding opposition groups. However, the sudden halt of this funding has thrown these operations into crisis.
🟡 Earlier this month, The Cradle exposed that in 2023, the secret NERD fund (Near East Regional Democracy) within the U.S. State Department had earmarked $55 million to incite unrest in Iran during the upcoming elections.
🟡 The report traces back to September 2024, when the Biden administration, after failing to trigger large-scale unrest in Iran despite the $55 million funding, requested an increase in the fund’s budget.
🟡 The investigation also revealed that Obama’s "Internet Freedom" initiative aimed to deploy covert internet and mobile systems in Iran, Libya, and Syria. Washington sought to establish a hidden force for regime change in Tehran, equipping it with secret communication technologies.
🟡 On January 27, Iran International reported that many anonymous recipients of U.S. funding were complaining about the sudden halt of support. Persian-language media outlets and organizations documenting "human rights violations" have abruptly shut down.
🟡 The suspension of these efforts signals a shift toward direct confrontation. After spending $600 million over a decade without significant success, the U.S. may now be preparing for more aggressive and potentially dangerous strategies against Iran.
