🔹 Verse 95 — Surah An-Nisa | Wilayah and Mahdawi Elucidation
🌙 The Noble Verse
“Those believers who sit [at home]—other than those who have a disability—are not equal to those who strive in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred the strivers with their wealth and their lives over those who sit [at home] by a degree. And to both Allah has promised the best [reward]. But Allah has preferred the strivers over those who sit [at home] with a great reward.” (An-Nisa 4:95)
✍️ Wilayah Narration
✅ Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him) narrates from Imam Hadi (peace be upon him) regarding the Ziyarat of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him): 💬 “I bear witness that you truly are Amir al-Mu’minin, the one about whom the verses of the Qur’an were revealed—God’s friend, the brother of His Messenger, and the defender of His religion. You are the one whose virtues the Qur’an proclaims: ‘Allah has preferred the strivers over those who sit [at home] with a great reward,’ and ranks and forgiveness and mercy—indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” 📚 Tafsir Ahl al-Bayt, v.3 | Bihar al-Anwar, v.97
🌟 Wilayah Perspective
🔹 This verse and Imam Hadi’s Ziyarat highlight the deep connection between jihad and wilayah.
🔹 The superiority of the strivers only holds true when jihad is under the banner of the Wali of Allah; without wilayah, any struggle loses its true worth.
🔹 Ali (peace be upon him) stands at the pinnacle of true strivers—he was the soul of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), sacrificing himself on the night of Laylat al-Mabit and in every battlefield from Badr to Uhud, Khandaq, and Hunayn.
🔹 Anyone who follows Ali (peace be upon him) and the Imams after him is on the same path of true jihad, even if they pass away in their bed.
✨ Mahdawi Perspective
🔸 In the era of occultation, the highest form of jihad is to preserve faith, maintain insight, and remain prepared to aid the Proof of God.
🔸 The companions of Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) are those who have risen above indifference—they stand ready to strive with their wealth and lives in the final struggle.
🔸 This verse reminds us that a true believer cannot remain idle—he must either fight on the frontline or stand as a firm supporter of jihad and the rightful Imam.
✅ Wilayah and Mahdawi Conclusion
✔️ The value of jihad lies in its bond with divine wilayah.
✔️ In Shi‘a thought, a mujahid is one who acts under the guidance of the infallible Imam; neglecting to support the Wali of Allah is falling into passivity.
✔️ In the cause of the Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance), economic, intellectual, media, and resistance struggles are all true examples of striving with wealth and life in the path of Allah.
