Why Did the Leader Allow Negotiations?
#HistoricalExperience
Someone once questioned Imam Ali (peace be upon him) about his acceptance of arbitration, despite being against it and even setting a time limit for it. The Imam responded with several reasons, including this profound wisdom:
"I only did this so that the ignorant may realize their mistake in trusting the enemy, and the wise may remain firm in their conviction."
— Nahjul Balagha, Sermon 125
Just as Imam Ali (AS) allowed arbitration for the sake of unveiling truth and exposing naivety, today’s leadership allows certain actions so that the reality becomes clear to all—especially those still deceived by false hopes in the enemy.
