#️⃣ Hiroshima, Nagasaki & The Godzilla We Don’t Know!
💥 The Atomic Horror
Hiroshima & Nagasaki: the first & only official use of nuclear weapons by a state against a nation.
A genocide committed by the U.S., yet no U.S. president — Republican or Democrat — has ever apologized.
International courts & human rights bodies remain silent even as the U.S. blocks other nations from going nuclear.
🎭 Art’s Silence… Except for One Monster
The world of art has produced very few works that truly carry Japan’s pain.
But there was one creation that roared Japan’s grief to the world: Godzilla.
Born as “Gojira” in 1954 by Japanese filmmakers — a metaphor for Hiroshima & Nagasaki.
His rough, scarred skin symbolized the burns & keloids of survivors from U.S. nuclear radiation.
🌊 The Innocent Monster
Lived peacefully in the Pacific, harmed by nuclear tests — just like the children of Hiroshima & Nagasaki.
His rage was natural: the reaction of an innocent being wounded beyond measure.
🎬 Creation Under U.S. Occupation
Japan was under U.S. censorship — artists couldn’t openly speak against America.
Producer Tomoyuki Tanaka got the idea from the atomic bombings & a fishing boat crew irradiated by a U.S. hydrogen bomb test.
Director Ishirō Honda, a pacifist, had seen Hiroshima’s ruins firsthand — the memory haunted him for life.
🇺🇸 Hollywood’s Whitewash
1956 U.S. release: political messages cut — Americans must not see their government as war criminals.
Ending changed from a nuclear warning to a happy, safe world.
1998 remake: Godzilla caused by French tests, U.S. shown as victim-turned-savior.
2014 version: nukes themselves are the “hero” defeating the monster!
⚠ Message Still Alive
Despite layers of censorship, Godzilla’s original warning remains:

As long as arrogant nuclear powers exist, humanity faces the risk of forces capable of destroying it.
