🔷 Divine Proofs Rejected: A Qur’anic and Mahdist Perspective on Surah Āl ʿImrān, Verse 183

Qur’anic Verse (3:183):
“Those who said: ‘Allah has taken a covenant from us not to believe in any messenger unless he brings us an offering consumed by fire from heaven.’ Say: ‘Messengers came to you before me with clear proofs and even with what you requested; so why did you kill them, if you are truthful?’”
(Āl ʿImrān, 3:183)

🔸 Exegetical Reflection:

This verse exposes a false claim made by certain Jews at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They demanded a specific sign — a heavenly fire consuming a sacrificial offering — as a precondition for belief. However, Allah rebukes them, stating that previous prophets had indeed presented such miracles, yet they were still rejected and even murdered. The rhetorical question, “Then why did you kill them if you are truthful?” uncovers the hypocrisy of their excuse.

🔹 Narrative Insight (Based on Hadith from Imam al-Ṣādiq [AS]):

1. Consent Equals Complicity in Sin:
Imam al-Ṣādiq (AS) emphasizes that although the Jews of the Prophet’s time did not physically kill previous prophets, their approval of their ancestors’ actions made them morally accountable and thus spiritually guilty.
📚 Sources: Tafsīr Ahl al-Bayt, vol. 2, p. 854; Biḥār al-Anwār, vol. 97, p. 94; al-Kāfī, vol. 2, p. 409

2. Sociotheological Concept of 'Killing':
Imam al-Ṣādiq (AS) further explains that divine judgment regards individuals as guilty of historical crimes if they fail to denounce them, reflecting a continuity of moral responsibility.
📚 Sources: Biḥār al-Anwār, vol. 97, p. 95; al-ʿAyyāshī, vol. 1, p. 209; Wasāʾil al-Shīʿa, vol. 16, p. 141

3. Historical Parallels with Karbala:
This principle is echoed in the tragedy of Karbala. Those who approve of Imam Ḥusayn's killing, even if they lived centuries later, are considered among his murderers. This serves as a model for every era: those who are pleased with injustice are complicit in it.

🔸 Wilāyah and Mahdist Analysis:

1. Acceptance of Divine Authority or Complicity in Rejection?
The verse underscores that the core test is not physical participation in a prophet's time but one's stance toward divine authority (wilāyah). Just as historical Jews were deemed guilty for inward approval of their ancestors' crimes, today, those who adopt a neutral or hostile stance toward the authority of Imam al-Mahdī (AJ) fall into the same category of divine condemnation.

2. The Criterion for True Faith During the Occultation:
Mere verbal belief is insufficient. One must actively align with the representatives of divine guidance. In the time of occultation, true allegiance is measured by one's recognition of Imamate, sincere expectation, and repudiation of the enemies of wilāyah.

3. Reenactment of Bani Israel’s Attitude in the End Times:
During the era of the reappearance, some people will use arbitrary standards and excuses (e.g., asking for specific signs or proofs) to reject Imam al-Mahdī (AJ). Those who aid or remain silent before his adversaries will be spiritually akin to the enemies of past prophets.

📎 Mahdist Summary:

Approving of oppression is equivalent to participating in it.

Salvation lies in adhering to the Wilāyah of Ahl al-Bayt (AS).

In the occultation, neutrality equals betrayal.

Knowing the Imam of the time and disassociating from his enemies defines true allegiance.

🔷 Divine Proofs Rejected: A Qur’anic and Mahdist Perspective on Surah Āl ʿImrān, Verse 183 Qur’anic Verse (3:183): “Those who said: ‘Allah has taken a covenant from us not to believe in any messenger unless he brings us an offering consumed by fire from heaven.’…
🔰 The Criterion of Ultimate Success: A Mahdist and Wilāyah-Based Reflection on Āl ʿImrān 3:185

🔹 The Verse (Āl ʿImrān 3:185):

"Every soul shall taste death. And you will only be paid in full your rewards on the Day of Resurrection. So whoever is kept away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has truly succeeded. And the life of this world is nothing but a deceiving enjoyment."

🔸 Narrative Insights (Riwayāt):

1. The Prophet (PBUH) swore by the honor of God that anyone who loves ‘Alī (a.s.) will be distanced from Hellfire and admitted into Paradise.
📘 Nūr al-Thaqalayn, vol. 1, p. 362

2. Imam al-Ṣādiq (a.s.) interpreted the phrase "has truly succeeded" (faqad fāz) as referring to the Prophet, ‘Alī, Ḥasan, Ḥusayn, and the Imams from their lineage—the true victors on the Day of Judgment.
📘 Tafsīr Ahl al-Bayt, vol. 2, p. 866

3. Imam al-Bāqir (a.s.), when asked about martyrs, explained that even those killed in God's cause must return to taste death—since the verse applies to every soul without exception.
📘 Biḥār al-Anwār, vol. 53, p. 65

4. Prophet Khiḍr (a.s.), at the time of the Prophet's passing, recited this verse and reminded believers: Put your trust in God, for He appoints a successor for every loss.
📘 Biḥār al-Anwār, vol. 22, p. 515

5. When a man asked the Prophet (PBUH) the price of Paradise, he replied: Sincerity in “Lā ilāha illallāh” and love for the Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.) are its true price.
📘 Biḥār al-Anwār, vol. 3, p. 13

🌟 Wilāyah and Mahdist Perspective:

This verse defines true success as salvation from Hell and entrance into Paradise. Yet, the riwāyāt clarify that this success is conditioned upon Wilāyah (Divinely appointed guardianship)—specifically of the Prophet’s family.

🔹 A voice from the heavens on the Day of Judgment will declare:

“Muḥammad, his successor, his two grandsons, and the Imams from his lineage are the true winners.”

Thus, Imam al-Mahdī (ʿaj), the heir of this Wilāyah and the awaited savior, becomes the final and full manifestation of this Divine promise:

He calls humanity to salvation from Hell and entrance into God’s Garden.

He leads the Husaynī front and rises to avenge the blood of the oppressed across history.

✅ And only those loyal to his Wilāyah today will be among the faqad fāz—the truly successful—on that Day.

📌 Moral Insight:

The verse reminds us that this world is but a deceiving illusion. The only lasting wealth is devotion, loyalty, and obedience to the Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.)—not material gain or worldly status.

Salvation lies in Wilāyah.

Felicity lies in sincere expectation for the Mahdī (ʿaj).

Loss lies in being deluded by worldly pleasures and forgetting one’s true spiritual allegiance.

🔚 Conclusion:

This noble verse guides us through inevitable death, the justice of resurrection, and the criteria of ultimate success. In the light of Ahl al-Bayt’s teachings, it becomes clear:

Salvation in both worlds is paved by love, obedience, and true anticipation of the Promised Mahdī (ʿaj).

🔹 Verse 4:45 – Sūrah An‑Nisā’

“And Allah knows best your enemies; and sufficient is Allah as Protector (Walī), and sufficient is Allah as Helper (Naṣīr).” 🛡️

📚 Narrative & Interpretive Perspective

✍️ ʿAlī ibn Ibrāhīm al‑Qummī comments:

“This verse was revealed concerning the Jews.”
📘 Tafsīr Ahl al‑Bayt (ʿa), vol. 3, p. 200 / al‑Burhān

At that time, Jewish tribes, with their hidden and overt hostility to Islam and the divinely-appointed leadership of the Prophet ﷺ and Imām ʿAlī (ʿa), were behind this revelation. But the verse’s meaning goes deeper—it applies to any movement opposed to Wilāyah across all eras.

✨ Wilāyah-Based Interpretation

The divine attributes Walī and Naṣīr highlight the essential role of Divine Guardianship and Support.

The Ahl al‑Bayt (ʿa) are the earthly embodiment of this guardianship. God declares Himself protector and helper, and He appoints special servants—like Imām ʿAlī (ʿa)—as “Walī Allāh” and “Nāṣir Dīn Allāh.”

Thus, the message is clear: True security in the face of adversaries comes through Divine Wilāyah, represented by ʿAlī (ʿa) and his pure lineage.

🌟 Mahdī-Centric Insight

During the Occultation era, the real enemies of the Islamic Ummah are those who reject the Wilāyah of Ahl al‑Bayt (ʿa)—whether camouflaged in secularism or distorted religion.

In the Era of Reappearance, Allah Himself will be the Walī and Naṣīr of Imām al‑Mahdī (ʿaj) and his loyal companions—just as the verse declares: “Sufficient is Allah as Protector…”

According to traditions, in these end-times, only those who accept Divine Wilāyah through allegiance to Imām al‑Mahdī (ʿaj) will be safeguarded from trials—even if others claim the banner of Islam.

✅ Wilāyah & Mahdī-Based Conclusions

Allah alone truly knows the enemies of Divine Wilāyah, even if they masquerade as believers.

Guardianship and support from Allah manifest only through connection with the Ahl al‑Bayt (ʿa).

Imām al‑Mahdī (ʿaj), both in Occultation and at Reappearance, is the Guardian and Helper of the Ummah, empowered by God.

Accepting Wilāyah is the only sure shield against both open and covert hostility.
