One of Iranian traditions for the new year is cleaning the house and washing the carpets, walls , etc.
But it is believed that the best we can do now is cleaning our hearts by forgetting bad memories and forgiving those who made us sad during 1396.
Keeping the rancor or hatred of people in our hearts is like a heavy burden on our soul.

بســــــــم الله الرّحمــــــن الرّحیــــــــــم
به نام خداوند رحمت‌گستر مهربان
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful
اَللّهُمَّ اَنْتَ الاْلهُ الْقَديمُ وَهذِهِ سَنَةٌ جَديدَةُ
خدايا تويى معبود ازلى و اين سال تازه است
O Allah, You are the Eternal God and this is a new year;
فَاَسْئَلُكَ فيهَاالْعِصْمَةَ مِنَ الشَّيْطانِ وَالْقُوَّةَ عَلى هذِهِ النَّفْسِ الاْمّارَةِ بِالسّوَّءِ
از تو خواهم در اين سال نگهداريم را از شيطان و نيروى بر اين نفس كه پيوسته به گناه فرمان مى دهد
I therefore request Your safety from Satan, control over my self, which is inclined to sinning,
وَالاْشْتِغالَ بِما يُقَرِّبُنى اِلَيْكَ یا کریم
و سرگرمى بدانچه مرا به تو نزديك كند
ای بخشنده و بزرگوار
O Lord of majesty and honor!
يا ذَاالْجَلالِ وَالاْكْرامِ يا عِمادَ مَنْ لا عِمادَ لَهُ
اى صاحب جلالت و بزرگوارى اى تكيه گاه كسى كه تكيه گاهى ندارد
O Supporter of him who has no supporter! O Supporter of him who has no supporter!
يا ذَخيرَةَ مَنْ لا ذَخيرَةَ لَهُ يا حِرْزَ مَنْ لا حِرْزَ لَهُ
اى ذخيره آنكس كه ذخيره ندارد اى پناهگاه آنكس كه پناهگاهى ندارد
O Provider of him who has no provisions! O Shelter of him who has no shelter!
يا غِياثَ مَنْ لا غِياثَ لَهُ يا سَنَدَ مَنْ لا سَنَدَ لَهُ
اى فريادرس آنكس كه فريادرسى ندارد، اى پشتيبان آنكس كه پشتيبانى ندارد
O He who comes to help him who has no hope of help! O Reliance for him who has no one to lean upon!
يا كَنْزَ مَنْ لا كَنْزَ لَهُ يا حَسَنَ الْبَلاَّءِ يا عَظيمَ الرَّجاَّءِ
اى گنج آنكس كه گنجى ندارد، اى كه آزمايشت نيكو است اى بزرگ مايه اميد
O Treasure of him who has nothing in the purse! O He who knows well how to put to test and trial! O Ultimate Hope!
يا عِزَّ الضُّعَفآءِ يا مُنْقِذَ الْغَرْقى يا مُنْجِىَ الْهَلْكى
اى عزت بخش ناتوانان، اى نجات بخش غريقان، اى خلاص كننده هالكان
O Strength of the weak! O Rescuer of the drowning! O He who saves from destruction!
يا مُنْعِمُ يا مُجْمِلُ يا مُفْضِلُ يا مُحْسِنُ
اى نعمت‌بخش اى زيباپرور اى فزون‌بخش اى نيكوده
O All-benefactor! O All-munificent! O All-favorer! O All-benevolent!
اَنْتَ الَّذى سَجَدَ لَكَ سَوادُ اللَّيْلِ وَنُورُ النَّهارِ
تويى كه سجده كرد (و به كمال خضوع درآمد) برايت سياهى شب و روشنى روز
You are He before Whom prostrate in adoration the blackness of the night and the brightness of the day,
وَضَوْءُ الْقَمَرِ وَشُعاعُ الشَّمْسِ وَدَوِىُّ الْمآءِ وَحَفيفُ الشَّجَرِ
و تابش ماه و شعاع خورشيد و صداى ريزش آب و بهم خوردن درخت
the moonlight, the sunlight, the ripple of the water, and the rustling of the trees!
يا اَللّهُ لا شَريكَ لَكَ
اى خدايى كه شريك ندارى
O Allah! There is no associate with You!
اَللّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنا خَيْراً مِمّا يَظُنُّونَ وَاغْفِرْ لَنا ما لا يَعْلَمُونَ
خدايا قرارمان ده بهتر از آنچه مردم گمان كنند و بيامرز از ما آنچه را كه نمى دانند
O Allah! (Please do) cause us to be better than what they think of us! Forgive us that which they do not know!
وَلا تُؤ اخِذْنا بِما يَقُولُونَ حَسْبِىَ اللّهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاّ هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ
و مگير ما را بدانچه گويند بس است مرا خدا معبودى جز او نيست بر او توكل كنم
Do not blame us for what they say! Sufficient is Allah (for me). There is no god save Him, On Him do I rely,
وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظيمِ امَنّا بِهِ كُلُّ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَبِّنا
و او است پروردگار عرش عظيم ايمان داريم به او و هرچه هست از نزد پروردگار ما است
and He is the Lord of the Great Throne. We believe in it! It is all from our Lord!
وَما يَذَّكَّرُ اِلاّ اُولُوا الاْلْبابِ
و اندرز نگيرند جز خردمندان
None do mind except those having understanding.
رَبَّنا لاتُزِغْ قُلُوبَنا بَعْدَ اِذْ هَدَيْتَنا
پروردگارا منحرف مساز دلهاى ما را پس از آنكه هدايتمان كردى
Our Lord, make not our hearts deviate after You have guided us aright,
وَهَبْ لَنا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْوَهّابُ
و ببخش به ما از پيش خود رحمتى كه براستى تويى بخشايشگر.
and grant us mercy from You; surely, You are the most liberal Giver.
