💵 The Rise of the Petrodollar: A Hidden History

📖 Source: JSCenter.ir

After WWII, the Bretton Woods system fixed the price of gold at $35 per ounce, stabilizing the world economy for a decade. But by the late 1950s, the imbalance between America’s gold reserves and global trade expansion created cracks in the system. Gold was traded on the black market above the official price, signaling the beginning of the end.

In 1971, President Richard Nixon suspended the dollar’s convertibility to gold. This unprecedented step effectively ended Bretton Woods, and in 1976 the Jamaica Accords sealed the system’s collapse. Without gold backing, the dollar risked losing global dominance.

🔑 The Solution: The Petrodollar
To preserve U.S. supremacy, Washington needed a new mechanism to sustain demand for its currency. The opportunity came during the 1973 Arab-Israeli (Yom Kippur) War. Arab oil producers, in protest against Western support for Israel, imposed an oil embargo, quadrupling prices within months.

Behind the scenes, U.S. officials like Henry Kissinger and banking elites like David Rockefeller convinced Saudi Arabia and other OPEC members to sell oil exclusively in U.S. dollars. King Faisal accepted, believing it would enrich Arab states. Thus, the Petrodollar system was born.

⚙️ How the Petrodollar Cycle Worked

1. Oil importers needed dollars to buy crude → they borrowed from U.S. banks.

2. Oil exporters (like Iran & Saudi Arabia) deposited profits back into U.S. banks.

3. Those same dollars were re-lent to importing nations → creating a closed cycle.

This ensured constant demand for dollars and allowed the U.S. to finance massive deficits without real production. As scholar Imran Hosein later explained: “When oil prices quadrupled, so did the value of the dollar. Arabs thought they had become richer, but in truth they had been trapped.”

📌 Consequences:

The U.S. enjoyed decades of unbacked consumption, effectively buying global goods with paper.

Military interventions followed wherever the dollar was threatened (e.g., Iraq 2003 after Saddam pushed for oil sales in euros).

By 2016, America’s trade deficit had soared past $11 trillion, sustained only by the artificial demand for dollars.

🛢️ Even today, most global oil is still priced in dollars, keeping the Federal Reserve’s power intact. The Petrodollar remains a cornerstone of U.S. hegemony — defended not just by economics, but by war.

This is the seventh chapter in the series The Magic of Money and Banking. It explores how the global dominance of the U.S. dollar—once thought unshakable—is now facing historic decline.

🏦 From Jewish Banking Networks to the Federal Reserve

In earlier parts, we traced how European Jewish bankers and moneylenders formed powerful networks in the 17th century, expanded into America in the 18th, and by the 20th century captured the world through the Federal Reserve (1913).
Through both World Wars, the Great Depression, the creation of Israel, Middle East wars, the Gulf War, and the birth of global institutions like the World Bank, IMF, and WTO—this network secured immense profit and geopolitical leverage.

🌍 Dollar as a Security Weapon

After the Bretton Woods Agreement (1944), the dollar became the world’s reserve currency. In theory, it was supposed to serve global trade under international rules. In practice, it became a tool of American hegemony, enriching Federal Reserve shareholders while allowing Washington to freeze assets and impose sanctions at will.
To manage this control, the U.S. created the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), turning the Treasury Department into one of the most powerful intelligence and financial security agencies in the world.

⚠️ Cracks in the System – The Achilles’ Heel

The dollar’s supremacy began to weaken in the early 21st century, with two pivotal events:

1️⃣ The 2007–2008 Global Financial Crisis

Triggered by housing bubbles and reckless banking practices, it forced Washington to flood the economy with liquidity.

This devalued the dollar and eroded trust in U.S. reserves worldwide.

Countries like Russia and China began buying vast amounts of gold, preparing for a post-dollar future.

2️⃣ Iran Sanctions

Harsh sanctions on oil sales and currency exchanges showed the world that the dollar could be used as a weapon.

Iran turned to barter trade, local currencies, gold transactions, and alternative financial routes—proving the system’s vulnerabilities.

This alarmed other governments, pushing them to seek escape routes from dollar dependency.

🌏 Resistance: BRICS & Beyond

Emerging powers—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS)—now account for nearly half of global GDP. Their agenda is clear: dismantle the dollar’s monopoly.

Key strategies include:

🔑 Gold Reserves: Building stockpiles as an alternative backing for currencies.

🔑 Currency Swap Agreements: Direct trade in local currencies (e.g., Iran–Russia ruble-rial deals).

🔑 BRICS Development Bank: A counterweight to the World Bank/IMF.

🔑 Bilateral & Multilateral Agreements: Reducing exposure to U.S. sanctions and Treasury surveillance.

As President Vladimir Putin once pledged: “The dollar’s dominance will be removed in the near future.”

🛡️ Toward a Currency War

The U.S. continues to weaponize the dollar through sanctions and financial warfare. Yet, the era of unquestioned dollar hegemony is ending. With gold’s resurgence, BRICS expansion, and nations turning to alternative payment systems, the global economy is preparing for life after the dollar.

📌 Key Insight: The same network that once created and weaponized the dollar may now be facing its own undoing.
The “magic” of money is fading—and the world is entering a new monetary battlefield.

🇺🇸 Yesterday, November 29, 2025: The Anniversary of Henry Kissinger's Death On this occasion, let's critically examine the legacy of one of the most influential—and controversial—figures in modern geopolitics. --- 📖 Henry Kissinger: Diplomatic Genius or…
🛢️ The Birth of the Petrodollar: How the U.S. Saved the Dollar from Collapse & Enslaved the Global Economy

As the Bretton Woods system crumbled in the early 1970s, the United States faced an existential threat to dollar hegemony. What emerged was one of the most brilliant yet diabolical financial engineering feats in history—the Petrodollar System.

---

💰 The Crisis: Bretton Woods Collapses

· For decades, the dollar was backed by gold at $35/ounce
· By 1971, U.S. gold reserves dwindled - foreign central banks held more gold than America
· Richard Nixon unilaterally ended dollar-gold convertibility in 1971
· The dollar was now fiat currency - backed by nothing but "full faith and credit" of the U.S.

🎭 The Setup: The 1973 Yom Kippur War

· A "staged war" between Arabs and Israel, according to researcher Imran Nazar Hosein
· Egypt's Anwar Sadat and Israel both knew it was "manufactured theater"
· Real purpose: Create an oil crisis to save the dollar

♟️ The Masterstroke: Kissinger's Saudi Deal

· Henry Kissinger traveled to Saudi Arabia to meet King Faisal
· Offered a deal: Price oil exclusively in U.S. dollars worldwide
· In return: U.S. military protection and increased IMF voting rights
· Saudi Arabia strong-armed OPEC into compliance

🔄 The Petrodollar Recycling Mechanism

1. Oil prices quadrupled from $40 to $160/barrel
2. Countries needed dollars to buy oil → massive global dollar demand
3. Oil producers accumulated dollar surpluses
4. Surpluses recycled into U.S. Treasury bonds, Wall Street banks, and military purchases
5. Dollars returned to U.S. economy, funding consumption and wars

🇮🇷 The Iranian Connection

· The Shah of Iran became America's "policeman of the Gulf"
· Massive arms purchases from U.S. ($ billions)
· Personal investments in Rockefeller's Chase Manhattan Bank
· The Shah admitted: "The U.S. was at least indifferent to oil price increases"

🎪 The Architects

· David Rockefeller (Bilderberg founder)
· Henry Kissinger ( geopolitical mastermind)
· George Shultz (Treasury Secretary)
· Walter Levy ("dean of oil economists")

💀 The Consequences

· Dollar hegemony preserved for 50+ years
· American exceptionalism funded by global oil trade
· U.S. can run massive trade deficits - the world's "exorbitant privilege"
· Any challenge to petrodollar met with regime change (Iraq, Libya)
· Global enslavement to Federal Reserve monetary policy

⚡ The Modern Reality

· Every barrel of oil sold strengthens the dollar
· U.S. military might protects the petrodollar system
· Countries attempting to break free face destruction
· The real reason behind Middle East conflicts: defending dollar hegemony

---

The petrodollar system represents the ultimate fusion of financial power, military might, and geopolitical manipulation—a silent empire built on black gold and green paper.
