– Is accepting Islam and being Muslim in France complicated?
Omar Sy:
"Not at all. At least for me, it’s neither complicated nor strange. But I feel there comes a time when I need to remind people that in this country, there are Muslims besides you—Muslims who, due to the climate of Islamophobia and negativity toward Islam, don’t even dare to express their faith or speak about it. But we should never be ashamed of our religion."
– What role does faith play in your daily life?
Omar Sy:
"Faith flows throughout my daily life. I’m not even sure how to explain what a deep place it has in my behavior and way of life."
– Do you thank God for being a Muslim?
Omar Sy:
"Of course. That’s the least I can do. Though becoming Muslim wasn’t something that 'just happened'—I was raised in this faith. Gratitude to God is a part of everything I do. The way I treat people—with love and kindness—comes from my faith."
