📣 Trump in the Middle East: The Businessman Returns to the Office!
🔰 Al-Akhbar (Lebanon) reports:
▪️ Donald Trump, U.S. President, began his Gulf tour today, May 13, 2025, with planned stops in Qatar and the UAE. The trip is designed to attract massive investments, reflecting Trump's signature policy: “Pay up, get protection.”
▪️ A key highlight of this tour is the potential signing of a nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia. While Riyadh claims its aim is uranium enrichment for energy, concerns persist about possible military ambitions. The U.S., however, is imposing strict IAEA oversight and tight limitations, effectively blocking Saudi nuclear self-sufficiency. Though the agreement may offer a symbolic win for Mohammed bin Salman, it falls short of his nuclear aspirations.
▪️ Saudi Arabia has pledged to invest $1 trillion in the U.S. over the next decade, including $100 billion in arms purchases. Qatar joins the financial wave with a $250 billion investment, including the purchase of a $400 million luxury Boeing jet, while the UAE commits $1.4 trillion toward AI and technology sectors.
