🌿 Divine Promise & The Path of Truth (Reflections on Quran 5:65 & the Prophet's (ص) Guidance) 📖 Quran 5:65 "If only the People of the Scripture had believed and been righteous, We would have absolved them of their sins and admitted them into Gardens…
Divine Abundance Through Obedience: Reflections on Quran 5:66

📖 Quran 5:66
"Had they upheld the Torah, the Gospel, and what was revealed to them from their Lord, they would have been granted sustenance from above and beneath their feet. Among them is a moderate community, but most of them commit evil deeds."

🔹 Key Themes:
1️⃣ Divine Provision Follows Divine Law – Obedience to God’s revelations brings material and spiritual blessings.
2️⃣ The "Moderate Community" (Ummah Muqtasidah) – A righteous remnant among the People of the Book who embraced truth.
3️⃣ Warning Against Disobedience – Most deviated, earning divine displeasure.

💎 Insights from the Ahl al-Bayt (ع)

1. The True "Upholding" is Wilayah (Divine Guardianship)
Imam al-Baqir (ع) explains:
"The phrase ‘had they upheld the Torah, the Gospel, and what was revealed to them’ refers to Wilayah (allegiance to divine leadership)."
➡️ Lesson: True adherence to scripture means accepting God’s chosen guides—like Imam Ali (ع) after the Prophet (ص). (Tafsir Ahl al-Bayt, Vol. 4, Pg. 140 | Al-Kafi, Vol. 1, Pg. 413)

2. The "Moderate Community" – Converts to Truth
Ali ibn Ibrahim (رحمه الله) clarifies:
- The "sustenance from above and beneath" symbolizes rain and fertile land—God’s blessings for the obedient.
- The "moderate community" were Jews/Christians who embraced Islam. (Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 9, Pg. 198)

3. Imam Ali (ع): The Key to Divine Abundance
In a profound narration, Amir al-Mu’minin (ع) states:
"Had the Ummah followed me after the Prophet’s (ص) passing, they would have received sustenance ‘from above and beneath their feet.’"
➡️ Why? Because Imam Ali (ع) held:
- The complete interpretation (ta’wil) of the Quran.
- The knowledge of all divine laws until Judgment Day.
- The "Keys to 1,000 Doors of Knowledge" from the Prophet (ص). (Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 26, Pg. 65)

4. Imam al-Sadiq (ع) to the Shi’a: A Promise of Blessings
"If our Shi’a remained steadfast:
- Angels would greet them.
- Clouds would shade them.
- They would shine like daylight.
- They would be granted sustenance from above and below.
- No prayer would go unanswered." (Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 75, Pg. 279)

5. Imam Ali (ع) Debates a Christian Bishop
When a bishop falsely claimed Christians remained united after Jesus (ع), Imam Ali (ع) corrected him:
"By Allah! They split into 72 sects—all in Hell except one: the ‘moderate community’ (Quran 5:66)." (Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 9, Pg. 198)
