๐ฐ #Tawbah_of_Nasooh (Sincere Repentance)
๐ถ Nasooh was a man who looked very much like a woman โ he had a soft voice, no facial hair, and a feminine appearance.
Taking advantage of his looks, he worked as a bath attendant in the womenโs bathhouse, and no one knew the truth about him. He earned his living this way and also found pleasure in it.
Though he had repented several times, he always went back on his repentance.
๐ท One day, the daughter of the king came to bathe. By chance, she lost a precious gem during her bath. She became furious and ordered a thorough search of everyone.
๐ถ When it was Nasoohโs turn, he, terrified of being exposed, hid himself in the bath's cistern.
There, he turned sincerely and wholeheartedly to God and repented deeply.
๐ท Suddenly, a voice was heard from outside saying:
"Leave this poor soul alone, the jewel has been found."
The guards let him go.
๐ถ Grateful and overwhelmed, Nasooh praised God, left the bathhouse, and went home. Witnessing divine mercy, he remained firm in his repentance and turned away from sin.
๐ท A few days later, the kingโs daughter invited him back to the bathhouse, but he declined, saying he had an injured hand and could no longer work.
๐ถ He gave away all the wealth he had earned through sin, left the city, and went to live in the mountains, dedicating himself to worship.
๐ท One day, he saw a sheep grazing alone. Wondering where it came from, he decided it must have strayed from a shepherd and took responsibility to care for it until the owner returned.
Over time, the sheep multiplied, and Nasooh lived off their milk.
๐ถ A caravan, lost in the mountains and dying of thirst, stumbled upon him.
Nasooh gave them milk instead of water. Grateful, they asked for directions, and he guided them. Each traveler gave him a gift in return.
๐ท With these gifts, Nasooh built a fortress, dug a well, and gradually established a small settlement. People from all around came to live there, and Nasooh was held in great esteem.
๐ถ His reputation for wisdom and righteousness eventually reached the king โ the father of the princess.
Curious, the king sent an invitation to Nasooh.
๐ท Nasooh politely refused, saying he was busy.
Surprised, the king said: "If he wonโt come to us, weโll go to him."
๐ถ As the king approached Nasoohโs settlement, God ordered the angel of death to take the kingโs soul.
๐ท Following the customs of the time, since the king had died on his way to visit Nasooh, the people placed Nasooh on the throne.
๐ถ Now a ruler, he established justice throughout the land and eventually married the kingโs daughter.
๐ท One day, a man came to court and said:
"Years ago, I lost a sheep. I demand justice from you."
Nasooh replied:
"That sheep is with me, and all that I have comes from it."
He ordered that half of all his belongings โ movable and immovable โ be given to the man.
๐ถ The man then revealed:
โO Nasooh! I am not a shepherd, and it was never a real sheep. We are two angels sent by God to test you.
All of this wealth and honor is a reward for your sincere and truthful repentance. It is pure and lawful for you.โ
And then he disappeared.
This is why true and heartfelt repentance is called โTawbah of Nasooh.โ
May we also be among those who make such sincere repentance. Ameen!

Verbal repentance is the first step. But sincere repentance (tawbah al-nasuh), when it rises from the depths of the soul, guides a person to the very roots of their return. Find the hidden cracks of the heart and turn back toward the Lightโquietly, but steadily. ๐ค
