🔸 How Does Martyrdom Change a Person’s Life? 🔸
If the purpose of life is to reach the destination, then the faster the vehicle, the better the journey.
Among all possible paths and means, a wise traveler will choose the one that takes him more swiftly toward the goal — not the one that makes him stay longer on the road.
But if someone thinks this world is an inn, a temporary lodge he has rented, he’ll try to enjoy every comfort of it until the very last hour of his stay. He’ll think: “Since I’ve paid for it, I must enjoy it fully — every pleasure, every convenience.”
Yet, for the believer whose goal is the Hereafter, this world is not a residence but a path. His heart is always in motion — today here, tomorrow closer to the destination.
Martyrdom, then, is the swiftest vehicle to reach that eternal home. It takes the traveler in a single day — or even a single moment — to the final destination that others may spend years seeking.
The danger begins when a person settles down, makes this world his home, and says:
Such a person becomes chained to preserving the temporary.
But the heart of a true traveler never rests — it longs for departure, not comfort.
🏕 Ascetic life (zuhd) does not mean weakness or laziness. It means working hard, producing, and serving — yet being content with what is necessary, carrying no extra burden that slows the soul’s journey.
🏰 Luxury (kaakh-neshini), on the other hand, means: “the more, the better” — always clinging, always collecting.
The one who travels light moves freely toward God.
The one who clings to comfort becomes trapped in the inn.
For the living heart, life itself is a journey.
Take away the sense of travel, and you take away its life.
