🔶 Velvet Coup in the Bedrock of Secular Science
🧠 The Secret Army of Intellectuals – Part XXII
📚 The Sacred Secularism of America (III)

How does a “Velvet Coup” emerge from within “Secular Human Sciences”?

Hannah Arendt once wrote that modern science, born of the secular world, is rooted in a “philosophy of doubt.” Such doubt, she said, inevitably leads to the collapse of any religious or theocratic order — unless “this new science and its transformation of the world” are halted altogether.

This theory became the ideological foundation for the CIA’s cultural warfare — the so-called “Wars of Science.” It was through this strategy that secular human sciences were promoted as tools to erode the philosophical backbone of faith-based revolutions, including the Islamic Revolution of Iran. Behind this academic façade, the groundwork was laid for an intellectual coup — a Velvet Coup aimed at ideological disintegration before any political collapse.

From the perspective of Imam Khomeini (RA), this was part of a wider “war of beliefs” that knows no borders and will continue until the destruction of regimes rooted in Zionism, Capitalism, and Communism. Conversely, as noted by the head of the American Political Science Academy, the U.S. launched a “battle between good and evil in politics” to overthrow religious governments — with the CIA’s “Cultural Jihad” designed to spread liberal democracy worldwide.

🕵️‍♀️ The Blueprint of Liberation Revolutions
In Iran, this battle took shape through the “translation project” — the strategic translation and promotion of works by Jewish philosophers such as Hannah Arendt. Beginning with the Persian publication of “On Violence” in 1981, the effort expanded during the Reformist era and eventually intersected with U.S. plans for a Velvet Coup.

Two of Arendt’s prominent followers — Ágnes Heller and Michael Ignatieff — were invited to Iran before the 2005 presidential election. Both recipients of the Hannah Arendt Prize for Political Thought, they engaged in semi-secret meetings promoting “civil resistance” and strategies for “peaceful regime change.”

Western scholars framed the Eastern European Velvet Revolutions as “liberation movements.” Yet, these “revolutions” were, in essence, American-engineered coups, meant to dismantle anti-liberal systems and install capitalist democracies. As Samuel Huntington called it, they were the “Third Wave of Democracy” — the ideological weapon of the post-Cold-War order.

In Iran, the same narrative was cultivated through academia. Thinkers like Mohammad-Saeed Hanaei Kashani, a philosophy lecturer at Shahid Beheshti University and member of the Kiyan Circle, translated and popularized Arendt’s anti-religious theories. He described the Islamic Revolution as “a misguided fate” and declared that secularism must prevail through denial of divine authority.

In Arendt’s own words:

“The majority of people have abandoned belief in the Day of Judgment. The future world will be secular — because it is a world of doubt.”

Despite her failed prediction — disproven by the Islamic Revolution, which Michel Foucault called “the spirit of a world without spirit” — her disciples in Iran persist in promoting a secular ideology that rejects divine sovereignty and redefines politics without faith.

⚠️ Thus, the Velvet Coup in the field of knowledge — nurtured by secular science and Zionist philosophy — remains one of the most subtle and dangerous fronts in the ongoing war of ideas.
