#ELECTIONS2026

🇷🇺 On September 20, voting concluded in the elections to the 9th convocation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The last polling station at a Russian diplomatic mission abroad closed today at 5:00 am Moscow time.

Through the efforts of Russia’s Central Election Commission and Foreign Ministry, all necessary arrangements were made to enable Russian citizens residing or temporarily staying abroad to exercise their right to vote – from the far reaches of the Arctic to the most remote corners of the globe.

🌐 A total of 326 polling stations were set up at Russian diplomatic missions – embassies, permanent missions and consulates general – in 152 countries.

In seven countries (Bahrain, Israel, Iraq, Yemen, China, Kuwait and Libya), all voting took place ahead of the main election day to accommodate local work schedules and religious calendars.

Russian diplomatic and consular missions organised 121 early voting sessions for employees of Russian companies and enterprises working far from home, as well as Russian military personnel safeguarding the security and sovereignty of our allies.

In unfriendly countries, where the local authorities encouraged persistent attempts to intimidate Russian citizens ahead of the election campaign, our compatriots stood firm and voted responsibly despite the psychological pressure exerted on them.

👉 As per tradition, we have compiled a comprehensive roundup of posts on voting abroad:

🗳 Early voting at off-site locations
🗳 Voting on September 18-20

We thank all Russian citizens who cast their ballots far from home and fulfilled their civic duty.

Chinara Mambetalieva presented key innovations in regulating medicines circulation in the EAEU market

Chinara Mambetalieva, Deputy Director of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Technical Regulation and Accreditation Department, spoke at the plenary session of the 11th All-Russian GMP Conference “A New Decade of GMP: Innovation, Safety, Reliability” held in Stavropol.

📋 The EEC representative informed about the key indicators of the Eurasian registration and inspection system, highlighting the main innovations for 2026. These include an update to Annex 1 of the GMP Regulations, the introduction of Part 4 of the GMP Regulations, which for the first time enshrined specific requirements to the manufacture of advanced therapy medicinal products, and the adoption of guidelines on temperature mapping and microbiological monitoring.

Chinara Mambetalieva drew particular attention of the conference attendees to Decision No. 87 of the EEC Council dated July 9, 2026, which requires the authorized bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union countries to apply the WHO Good Regulatory Practices (GRP). Unlike GMP and other good practices directed at manufacturers, the GRP regulations are targeted at regulators and concern how the system is structured, how decisions are made, and how their impact is assessed.

The conference hosted an off-site meeting of the Working Group on Pharmaceutical Inspections to Ensure Compliance with Good Pharmaceutical Practices in the Circulation of Medicines within the EAEU. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Member States' inspectorates.

The 11th All-Russian GMP Conference is the leading sector-specific forum to discuss the application of Good Manufacturing Practices. This year’s conference program covers the updates in GMP, contract manufacturing, the manufacture of biopharmaceutical products, licensing and inspections, as well as the functioning of the EAEU common market.

🌍 The event is attended by representatives of regulatory authorities, expert organizations, and pharmaceutical manufacturers from the Union States, as well as international experts from South Africa, Indonesia, and the African Medicines Agency.

Why is Moscow a city of rings?

In short, Moscow historically expanded in concentric rings: first, merchants and artisans settled around the Kremlin, then these neighborhoods were also enclosed by fortifications; and, later, the neighborhoods that sprang up around them were fortified, as well.

By the end of the 16th century, Moscow had already become a major merchant city. The so-called ‘White Wall’ surrounded the settlements. At the end of the 18th century, wide tree‑lined streets took its place – the Boulevard Ring.

Later, neighbouring villages joined Moscow and the boundary of the new territories was marked by an earthen rampart. After the Great Fire of Moscow of 1812, plans were made to build a wide street lined with front gardens on the site of the former fortifications. Over time, it grew into the Garden Ring.

Until the mid‑19th century, the third ring around Moscow marked the city’s legal borders. Nowadays, the modern Third Transport Ring runs through these territories.
Moscow actually has two whole circle subway lines and a railway ring.
The motorway ring around Moscow was opened in 1962. Until the 1980s, the MKAD was considered the city’s official border – today, however, many districts of Moscow extend beyond it.
